  • I haven't done much today. I threw away the dregs of the cream cheese, used up the end of a bath foam bottle and put the rubbish and recycling out.

so today has been a war on cardboard (why as a household we never get rid of boxes new items come in after a sensible amount of time i will never know) we have computer boxes that were a few years old when we moved here 9 years ago!!
The other thing is this house is where old computer stuff comes to die!! we have masses of old computers that are fixer uppers going back donkeys years!!

So today was a tip run - got a bit sidetracked after that - but added to the stuff that was already in my car was:

14 cardboard boxes (lots and lots and lots - filled the back seat of the car)
    15 old broken iron
    16 - 17 2x dead computer tower units
    18 - 19 2 x dead laptops
    20 -21 2x dead printers

NB - items 16 - 21 there are more to get shot of!!

into nearly new Christmas box (or at least if i had a box)
22 a compact sewing machine unused in box - given to me 4 years ago - never unpacked.

some clutter moved from dining and spare rooms!!
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"

  • Hi everyone - have a day off today, and so time to report on progress. sillyvixen and wannalot I'm sorry for your losses.

There are some amazing 'totals' on here - CookieMonsta Fiasco and Casati well done! Reading through this thread always makes me feel inspired.

I hauled a big sack of stuff to the charity shop this week:-

    415. Trousers

    427. Beige shorts
    428. Pair of FitFlops that are too big now (are my feet shrinking?!!)

Lots of clothes this time - I've lost weight, and keep finding stuff I thought would still be okay, is in fact, ridiculously big. I am being a lot more cautious when buying clothes now - they have to be perfect!

I left the charity shop thinking there can't possibly be any more stuff I can get rid of (I regularly declutter), and then thought of something I could give to my mum .....
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

  • Hi there. I know quite late in the year, but could I join you please?

This year was my mission to de-clutter.... I would love to get chickens in the garden and love sewing but never have time, but I feel like I can't really do these things until I get my home in order (at least partially). But progress has been slow, I've re-found the forums and I think this might be just the challenge that I've been looking for.

I've went into the attic last night to get the winter clothes down and I feel a purge coming on.... I'll be updating my progress later. I look forward to getting lots of ideas on what to clear next!

A few more clothes (why did I need 4 dressing gowns, a bathrobe and two bed jackets?!) thinned out and 2 pairs boots boxed ready for the charity shop. I now have 9 free hangers, have put them in the guest room wardrobe so I'm not tempted to refill them.
Everything pulled out from under the stairs and sorted, some for cs, some reorganised and put back tidily. Needed doing as the stairs go up from my lounge so any visitors could see my clutter

I have fallen off the decluttering wagon of late and am now climbing back on board. We had a big clear out of the shed and took a car load to the recycling centre. Too much to list but we seem to hang onto stuff until it is beyond useless!

Thankfully I have maintained some of the better habits and kept on top of the paper mountains.

Good to see that so many of you are still at it and that I shall not be alone :-)
