Speeds cannot be guaranteed. However, you should be advised of the likely speed you'll receive before you finalise your order.

Assuming that this is fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) then you will still be affected by things such as distance from the exchange as part of your Internet connection is still served by copper cable.

I currently receive an average of 72Mbp/s of an advertised up to speed of 76Mbp/s.

You should also be aware that if connecting wirelessly then your speed may be limited by your equipment. I have devices (such as my tablet) that cannot get more than 22Mbp/s.

The Ofcom code of practice states that if your speeds are significantly less than estimated then your ISP should work with you to increase your speed (this will generally only apply with the speed to your router). If the speed cannot be improved then you should be permitted penalty-free termination of any contract. However, not every ISP is signed up to the Ofcom Code of Practice as it is voluntary. Most have.

Using the line checker below what are the 'clean' and 'impacted' ranges for your line?

Also, IIRC the minimum threshold for FTTC is now 2Mbps, it was 5Mbps at one point.

You will probably reach higher speeds nearer the up to mark on Fibre .My up to 38 MB BT fibre is usually 37 MB .
Previous ADSL was an up to 16 MB package with an average of 7 MB

UP to is simply a maximum as their are so many variables that bring the average down .
Can be terrific differences in output down to your internal wiring or WiFi .
