Just before Christmas I had an Amazon order from DPD. Got the SMS with a slot, then got an SMS telling me they'd left a card later on. I logged onto the DPD website only to be told it had been successfully delivered, "SIGNED FOR BY CUSTOMER AUTHORISATION". Turns out they walked around to the front of the house (I live mid terrace) and posted it through the letter box.

A week later I ordered from Amazon again, this time Parcel Force. Same good service? Ha: They walked up to my back door, my father saw them, put something down, then walked out. My dad didn't get the door unlocked quick enough, but basically they didn't even attempt delivery, they just left a card saying it was at the post office.

just before Christmas i had an Amazon item sent via DPD, i got all the sms/emails to say parcel out for delivery and was following it and it got within 15 minutes to my delivery when the status changed to delivery delayed, fine, then i noticed it travelling in the wrong direction still saying within 15 minutes and then it appeared to show at their depot and then the tracking map vanished. i contacted amazon who suggested i called the depot as they could not get through to DPD, so i called the depot to find out what happened and they would not say, but told me the driver would try and get them out by 10pm that night. i stated i took time off work waiting for this and got nowhere. So i emailed their CEO stating unless this is delivered within 2 hrs as they would have more than 1 vehicle then i would be charging them £500 for lost wages. within 1 hr the parcel arrived by someone that looked very disgruntled or put out by delivering my parcel

Yodel once said they had attempted delivery at my work but couldn't because no one was in... there's 2 receptions and about 200 odd ppl I'm the building so it was clearly lies. Got on to twitter they got the driver to come back and deliver it! Always found the twitter team to be helpful. Much better than the idiots they have on the road
  • It's interesting that Yodels customer services phone line (not that I would ring them, keep it all in writing :)) is an 0844 number.

Does the Consumer Rights Directive not apply to them?

My best one recently was Amazon logistics.

Your parcel was handed over and signed for by 'JournalGirl'.

Unfortunately for the driver 'JournalGirl' was in the middle of Schiphol Airport. My parcel was left in a bin in the garden. I had absolutely no problem with the parcel being left in the garden, it's a safe area, but I did object to my signature being faked by the driver.

So what does it matter what has been put on the PDA? If you are happy with the package being left there, the sig wont matter.
If its not there when you get home, you would be accepting that loss?

That only applies to the seller and not to the courier, you have no actual contract with the courier so they don't have to provide you with a cheaper number.

Because it's a lie, and because delivery companies lying about how they delivered parcels causes numerous problems for customers.

It'd be more of a shock if Yodel told the truth, but its never likely to occur.

Do they give you a different number if you are the sender then?
