Yodel tell lies.

I've never been able to prove it before but this time they have outdone themselves.

Email (and txt) received:

We have tried to deliver your parcel from maplin, sorry we missed you. We will automatically try again tomorrow (except Sundays) or if you prefer visit https://www.myyodel.co.uk/tracking/tracking number deleted where you can either choose an alternative delivery day or arrange to collect from the Service Centre.

This is what their website says

The thing is, the delivery wasn't coming to my home but to my local Maplin store.

No one in and left a card eh Yodel?

My only surprise is that anyone doesn't know that Yodel lie on a regular basis.
    It's someone else's fault.

Is it not possible that the shop was just shut today? So when yodel turned up they couldn't deliver it (which explains why you've got a text telling you this).

Yodel have no connection to maplin so if the shop is shut they can't do anything but try again later.
  • No the shop was open, and it's not as if it's a small shop with one worker that might have nipped to the loo.

Yodel are just liars, it's not the first time but it is the first time I've had evidence :)

Are you sure you correctly chose to deliver to a store when ordering as if this was done correctly then your address would never be on the parcel and Yodel would never be given your address.

I am assuming the OP did not get a card so Yodel didn't have their address; they just received an email and/or text message informing them of this status because Maplin sent through their mobile/email to Yodel.

I have done Boots Click and Collect and Tesco Direct collect, and both times I have received the DPD tracking details by SMS for the parcels even though it's being delivered to the store.

As an aside, both were unpleasant experiences: Boots' system didn't even tell me it was ready to collect, and Tesco Direct's was a day later than promised.

That's exactly right j0nathon2. Now if it was being delivered to a small shop with one employee you might think that they maybe popped to the loo or the local sandwich shop but this is a major store on an industrial park which means that either the driver is as thick as two planks or just doesn't care about being caught lying. If the latter is that because Yodel are complicit?

It's my own fault I suppose, I usually check who* a parcel is being delivered by but I thought that a Maplin delivery to a Maplin store would be by their own vehicles.

    My bad.

And in my experience Tesco Direct are always a day late.

    * And if the only choice is Yodel or City Link (not that I'll have to worry about them now) I'll buy from somewhere else that uses a proper company.

Tesco Direct use Yodel to deliver from their own distribution centre to their stores for some bizarre reason.

i ordered a xmas gift for xmas 2013 to goto local store as it was free delivery, got yodel details until it reached local depot then nothing. contacted Tesco Direct who told me Yodel had lost the item, so they would sent another to the store as as combo would refund me. this time got the message from Tesco it was at store ready to collect, so went to store and then brought out 2 parcels, knowing i only ordered 1 item and these parcels were the same shape and size i had the assistant open them infront of me to check and guess what the original had not been lost it seems to have been delivered to s tore at the same time the replacement 1 was. explained the issues with store assistant who stated it was not the first time this happened and gave me 1 parcel so they could send the other 1 back to their distribution centre.

Ooops, yes it was Yodel for Tesco Direct, not sure why I thought it was DPD; Boots definitely was DPD though!

I have never had anything delivered to Tesco Direct on time. I've even had notifications it's ready to collect, gone in, and no, it's not there (either that or it's on a pallet they just didn't bother to unpack).
  • My best one recently was Amazon logistics.

Your parcel was handed over and signed for by 'JournalGirl'.

Unfortunately for the driver 'JournalGirl' was in the middle of Schiphol Airport. My parcel was left in a bin in the garden. I had absolutely no problem with the parcel being left in the garden, it's a safe area, but I did object to my signature being faked by the driver.

I had this twice, It turned out the driver was trying to deliver to the wrong address even thou my address was clearly printed out along with a phone number. My complaint is on going. I advise going to twitter and posting about this someone always gets back to you (for show). I always tag the company sending the item as well.

    My complaint is ongoing....
