WHOOOOO OVER 10% WELL DONE!!!! :j:j:j:jSaving for that dream holiday0
-
Doing awesome! 10.23% is well over the 8.3% you'd need a month to clear by Christmas0
-
Collected some money over the weekend, child benefits came in and wife also got paid, total income for Feb so far has been £614 already!
New Total:
£1,469.75 / £10,156.75 - 14.47% Paid
This has cleared the Cashback card debt so thats 1 out of 6, 19th Feb is last Ikea payment so that will be 2 out of 6 gone. Will be left with 3 cards and a loan, the first 2 cards we should be able to clear fairly quickly (just over £1k on each) then it will be onto the £4k card.
Expecting another £100 this weekend from the wife working and its payday on 18th where im expecting to put another £300 towards paying off cards. Should take us up to around the 18% mark0 -
14% paid already and it's only February! You are doing amazingly well :j
It must be a great feeling being paid so often. I hate waiting until the end of the month for the one update.
I hope your going to reward yourself once you hit a certain milestone.

Well this month has been a lot more difficult and have spent outside of budget, must be going cold turkey. Really missing going to the pub for a few drinks and general spending on crap.
Actually like that we dont have as many takeaways, saying that we have had 3 so far this month but have spent 50% less on takeaways compared to this time last year,
Also treated the wife for Valentines (and myself too i guess) which cost a little more than it should have.
But on a whole it has been going well and chuffed that we have hit 15% already, with pay day on wednesday im expecting to hit the 20% mark by the end of the month!
Feels good to have money available and been actively looking to improve the house, been here for 6 years and only had the kitchen done (which started the whole debt off in the first place...). Ive got some stuff in to repair cracks in the walls with the view to decorate most of the house myself, then looking to save to have other jobs done (need new windows and doors, maybe central heating upgrade)
New Figure: £1,539.84 / £10,156.75 - 15.16% Paid0 -
Holy crap, was looking at finances and where to go after paying off debt.
Used the Natwest Mortgage Overpayments calculator (https://personal.natwest.com/personal/mortgages/secure/mortgage-overpayment-tool.html) and was amazed by what could be achiveable if we continued to pay off in the same way we do now (subject to interest rates, if we have jobs, home improvements etc)
My wages only: £46k Saved, 8 years to pay off, reducing the term by 20years
My wages and wife's: £52k Saved, 6 years to pay off, reducing term by 23 years
Whilst it would be amazing to be Mortgage free by 35 i very much doubt it will happen. Lots of things we want to do (move house for 1!) but has certainly opened my eyes to whats possible.0 -

So not really posted for a while, lost motivation a bit and starting to go backwards a little.
Mostly sticking to budget but havin the odd lapse where we dont take thing off the correct category or not paid money in that we should have.
Musicmagpie money has all come in now and straight back out to debt payments, pretty pleased with the service from them. They claim that 1 CD was missing and 1 DVD was missing, not worth much so wasnt to fussed by it. Got £140 from it all.
Been cleaning up the house and selling alot of stuff, mainly to declutter but paying debt is a major bonus. Fruit Machine sold for £60 (gonna miss it) and found iPod Classic which the wife was going to bin, sold for £140.
We also brought a few things, mainly using the bonus which has been confirmed and ill get it on 18th March! New smaller bed (got a double to replace king size) along with a new matress. Its a home improvement and makes the bedroom loads bigger! (plus the old bed/matress was god knows how old!).
So by the end of this month we will have got rid of a Credit Card, the most expensive one. Can mostly pay off a loan to which will then leave me with 2 cards left and almost half way there!
Current total:
£2,397.02 / £10,156.75 - 23.60% Paid0 -
Well i was a little naught tonight, looking at budgets and noticed the kids accounts which they wont be using for another 15 years had money there doing nothing. I decided to use it to pay off the last of the card.
Now dont worry, the kids still have that money allocated to them on YNAB and will be back in their accounts on the 18th when i get paid. It just seemed to make sense to pay the card off now and save myself a few weeks interest.
Now at: £2,725.35 / £10,156.75 - 26.83% Paid.
Doubt i will do that trick again unless its about to finish off a debt and i know i can replace it within a few weeks.0
