  • Thanks Greensalad, thats exactly what has happened with us, now we have flipped it round this debt is getting paid off pretty quick!

last night I was asked to photograph a friends party, i wasnt going to drink (as i dont normally when working) but as it was a mates 40th and we have been doing really well on the budgeting thought I would use the money from photographing as drinking money (Money wouldnt even touch YNAB so didnt feel bad about it)

ended up spending more than what I got paid which im kicking myself about now but we had a great time which doesn't happen often.

Back onto the budget today and after selling a few things we are still on top and paid off more than i was expecting.

    £645.91 / £10,156.75 - 6.36% Paid

later today expecting the wife to be paid which will pay off a further £70ish and tomorrow ill be able to put cash in the bank from selling things over the weekend (another £50 or so)

Sounds like you're doing really well with selling things off - how did you find the music magpie transactions?

  • so far so good, they picked up the DVD's today. Think ill have to wait a few weeks for them to acknowledge that they have received them.

Will post here as soon as i get paid :D

Forgot to pickup the cash this morning that I had from the weekend which is annoying as i was going to pay it in today. will pay in what i have (£45) and update my total later.

Wife got paid last night bringing us to 7% paid :D, just hope the following months go just as well!

7% already, you've made a good stab at it! Keep that steam going. To put it into perspective, 8.3% a month would give you 100% after 12 months. So keep aiming for 8.3% a month and you'll be golden.
  • Pretty chuffed today and celebrated with a takeaway (whoops!)

Got some vouchers from work so treated myself to a trip down Villa Park and the tickets were cheap. Much to my amazement villa won!

The wife also worked quite alot this week and also cashed in her holiday pay (so got stung on tax but should see it all come back some time after the tax new year) so we have a new total, and probably the last update for the month but more money expecting to come in soon (probably next week end)

Total paid now stands at £961.47 which equals 9.47% BOOM!
  • Hi,

  • Wow your doing amazingly well. You should be so proud :D

That % sign keeps on rising which is fantastic. You seem so motivated which is exactly what you need.

Keep the updates flying in, I will watch with interest ;)

    End of Jan Update:
In Jan we have paid off a massive £969.14, 9.5% of the debt.

Im pretty impressed with ourselves with how much we have paid off but also a bit depressed seeing how much we could have saved in the past, we could have been having a much better life (better house, holidays etc) instead we spent it on crap.

Only paid for lunch at work once (I blame the wife, she used the last of the bread at home, we now get extra bread and freeze it) this has probably saved around £60 a month.

Had 2 takeways totaling £33.64 vs last Jan's total of £80 (should still have been less than that though!). This did come out of our entertainment budget so wasnt bad spending as such, guess we could have just spent it on better things.

Food shopping on average has been under £40 a week at aldi (including some beer!) so have dropped my budget from £200 to £175 to see how we get on.

Looks like its going to be a fast start to February to, sold PS3 for £80, got a photography job for another £85 this weekend, wife is working, no council tax to pay.

March will be even better as its been confirmed I will get a bonus for work, amount hasnt been confirmed yet but expect it to be around the £1k mark, April will also bring my pay raise, percentage hasnt been confirmed yet but based on past years it will be around 8%.

We have even started to plan for when we can move house, possibly next year if everything gets paid off!
  • Wasnt planning on posting today but getting paid for photography job has took us over the 10% mark :D

    #090 £1038.97 / £10,156.75 - 10.23% Paid

Going to be a tough month i think, the wife has already spent her entertainment budget (going to UK Games Expo in May but brought the tickets yesterday), but she is working quite a lot this week so might give her a bonus.
