This is one of those challenges made annoying by my mid-month pay day, but have put both budgets in that I'll use to get through January and hope it makes some sense.

Go with what works for you! Mid-month pay days are awkward! I get paid on the 25th, so my savings payment goes out on the day, and I try to hold on to the remainder of the pay to start up ready for the 1st of the next month. Definitely a bit more tricksy with mid-month pay days, you sound like you have a good plan though!

    7. Meal Plan!-
Do this already and love it. It makes such a difference. A friend who often comes to dinner, looks at the meal plan on the wall to decide which night they’d like to come to dinner.

Hahaha! Fmess that is hilarious!! :rotfl:

I get paid on the 28th, and have a DD set to go out on that date as well.. Out of principal a few months ago I started to move the money that paid this DD from my previous months budget, and could then leave my salary etc until the 1st the following month...

Maybe SOA, you could do a gradual move too, and eventually the money you got paid on the 15th would be saved until the 1st?

I know it is all well and good me saying that as I only wait 2-3 days, but in reality I am now trying to push this on so I have a months worth of money waiting to pay the following months bills :) that's YNAB for you!

Since I already have food in, instead of downsizing I will aim to make 3 things that I have previously paid for, more if possible.

mothernerd - This sounds like a great idea for a mini challenge...!! :) may be it could be adapted to cards, gifts, cleaning products etc...

    5. Donate £3 from your food budget
Instead, I'll be buying £3 worth of hot drinks / soups for homeless people.

    A great alternative! :)

Starting the month off with a good day. SFD number 1 :j and two lots of exercise (swimming and dog walking) :j :j I have also reduced my petrol budget for the month as I seem to be doing better than expected with this (thanks to the snow) and have transferred £10 to pay more off the debt.

Bobarella with regards to your bus money. I would put the cash in a pot at the start of the month and then just lose 1 SFD for it. This is what others used to do for kids clubs that had to be paid in cash etc.
