RAC Will Charge You for running out of petrol

I think this is actually standard with any breakdown recovery company's. I do that National Breakdown and AA charge. I think they also charge if you get a flat and no spare. I personally wouldn't have risked that going through some parts of wales.0

i ran out of petrol once and the aa didnt charge me for coming out (except the cost of the petrol)
have to say tho this was in 02 so may have changed by now0 -
Could they not have gotten a taxi to the nearest petrol station & picked up a jerrycan? that is an option toonothing to see here, move along...0

If you get a flat and have a flat spare, or no spare they don't come out at all...The money, Dave...0 -

Can you imagine how much the RAC would have to charge for annual membership if members didn't have to pay for a call out that was, essentially, their own fault?0 -

After the index is a definition of words - check the first "Breakdown" - running out of fuel is not a mechanical or electrical failure, so by definition is surely not covered by the BREAKDOWN service.0 -

..err, you know there's a TGI's in Swansea, right...?
(sorry, slightly OT, I know)
Have to say, if I was dumb enough to run out of fuel, I'd be happy enough to pay for someone to come and help me...0 -
do you think anyone would deliberatly run out of fuel. i hadnt realised i was posting in the self righteous thread0

Just pointing out that I don't think any cars nowadays don't have a clear "running out of fuel in about a gallon" warning light - which is a very long way in a diesel car.0
