Well thanks to the lack of cauli's, i'm yet to make it but basically you blitz up cauliflower in blender / processor and then saute it. It's a bit of a trend atm as a rice / carb replacement - thought I'd give it a whirl as I rather like cauli anyway (and was going to use some in soup too)

That could really be read not how you intended :rotfl:
"Yep! In the last few years I've tried loads of exotic meats (including reindeer), and not yet had one I didn't like."
Cheryl - don't you find yourself describing everything as either beef or chicken though? :rotfl: I've eaten some unidentifiable things in Asia before, I learned after a few visits not to ask as a) after a long explanation you were still none the wiser or b) after a long explanation you really wish you hadn't asked in the first place
No NSD here, was nearly one but then I found a lovely bag for a gift in townbut no spending on me though - do I still get a :T

The reindeer (another more like venison than beef or chicken) actually came from L!dl, as did the quail we tried (not impressed enough with that one to pay for it again, but wouldn't go hungry if it was on offer)

Nope. Zebra is much more like venison, and crocodile has a very distinctive flavour all of it's own (and in burger form - I assume also steak form - stays pink even when cooked). OH and I have been to several food festivals a year since May 2012, and used to make it a point to try a new type of burger or bring home a new type of meat from each (the one which makes more people squirm than any other is grey squirrel sausages), but we seem to have exhausted everything from them now

After eating partridge I'm not sure Quail would be worth the effort in my book. I did have shark once which was very much like tuna.
I'd try reindeer in a Nordic country I think but prob not in the UK, I guess I don't mind the 'when in Rome' thing. What were the grey squirrel sausages like? Considering the amount people run over, I'm not sure why people get squeamish about eating them.
Think i'd draw the line at dog or cat - but then again, if I was in such a situation even Igor would look tastyFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I had shark many years ago - and DS1 (who hates fish) has recently requested I get some if I find it at a 'reasonable' price as he likes that one!! It was about that time I first had Marlin and fresh Tuna as well.
The sausages were nice. Couldn't compare the flavour to anything, but not weird - just had a 'tang'. Wanted to get some more at later festivals, but the company have only been to a couple - sold out at one, and didn't take to the other
Partridge is one I've not yet tried.
Tried OH and his niece with rabbit (stewed) in 2012, and both enjoyed it. His niece ate it before the carrots on her plate - totally unheard of for her not to eat all the carrots first
Cat and dog (and any type of rodent) are ones I'm not sure I'd want to try - but if it was those or starve I don't think I'd find it to hard to get beyond my squeamishness.
I've not (knowingly) tried horse, but DS1 had it in Germany while in the forces and would happily eat it again. Apparently it's very similar to Zebra, which I guess is to be expected as they're much the same animal.Cheryl0 -
