@PhilGreen,
Its coincidence when someone wins a search term using a phrase someone else has posted on here. Coincidence. They could just have easily written a different word or phrase and still won. What I do know is that it does NOT help (read as increase their chances from any other phrase they might use) people to win searches by repeating what they read on here. If they do its coincidence.
Again - there is an algorithm behind the scenes which from what I can tell normally divides the wins throughout the day - but the actual phrase is TOTALLY IRRELEVANT.
I am pretty certain having done this for a good while now that you could pick up a dictionary, type in a word, refresh a few times through out the morning until you win. Then choose the next word and repeat and you'll probably get another win in the afternoon. Repeat again and you'd hopefully get a third in the evening.
You could do that or you could copy the phrases from here that other people post.
Please stop saying that the phrases that people post on here make a difference - the actual phrase is random. Saying otherwise is misleading to newbies and also encourages people to post search wins!
@HappyGreen
"....*and stop wasting space* by arguing, please? "
this is how we feel about search win posts ;-)
and one final (promise) point - all the people who say they are happy to skim over them etc ... why would you need to skim over them if they were useful posts.... ;-)0 -

richp,
can you tell me where I have said " the phrases that people post on here make a difference "?
no, didn't think you could!
All I've said is the first post encourages people to post search wins and sometimes, yes sometimes, other people get wins using the same phrases.
if people want to post their search wins on here that's up to them, I can either read the post or ignore it, but people should not be telling/suggesting other people do not post these searches on here it is a thread for everyone, What if I said you shouldn't post on here about surveys? yes I agree I would be out of order but personally I don't want to read about surveys so I choose to not read the post.
It is that easy!0 -

err - yes I can - from your post:
"This encourages people to post search wins up to 4 a day each person so the amount of search wins actually posted are very small, it is a great help to the newbies to see what sort of searches are earning sb's and lots of oldies are using the search terms, some work some do not. Mostly I have stopped doing searches since the change in the search engine provider so posting on here I just skim past and ignore them, it's not a problem.
The original aim of this thread was to help all swagbuckers and by posting searches does this."
1) "it is a great help to the newbies to see what sort of searches are earning sb's"
No it isn't - for exactly the reasons I and several other people have posted previously. If anything its misleading and confusing to them.
2) "The original aim of this thread was to help all swagbuckers and by posting searches does this."
See my first answer.
I don't want to get into a row as last time it got me nowhere, but I'm staggered you can't see the pointlessness of posting search wins with regard to anyone else using that information to GUARANTEE themselves some SB's.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day... would you say that clock was useful because of 2 coincidences?0 -
Update the first post to explain more of what we know, i.e. that by searching frequently you will be rewarded with varying denominations of SB's and omit the rest until the discussion is solved over whether the "word or phrase" is important.
Anyone happy to volunteer to settle the argument by trying the dictionary idea for a few days and just working from A onwards for searchs to see whether the rewards are inline with what you normally get? I hate the searches so hardly do them but I would like prefer to see less results of searches in this thread if we can convince people that the actual phrase is irrelevant.0 -
The majority of last 50+ posts have been about whether or not to post searches because some people have e-mail alerts activated or don't want to read them.
This seems a bit silly as now they ARE getting e-mail alerts etc about stuff they don't want but they may be posting themselves.Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive0 -

So I tried it, 7 individual searches starting from the first actual word in my collins dictionary in alpha order and I won on the seventh word. I'll try again later today taking the 8th word as my starting point - can anyone let me know what they would expect me to achieve for search wins in a day as I don't normally do them?0 -
Instant 5SB about zero hour contractsCan anyone let me know what they would expect me to achieve for search wins in a day as I don't normally do them?
I'm thinking 3-4 search wins in one day. I rarely get more than 1 myself though as I just do searches as normal as part of work.0
