Me too and me tooIt helps though, have bought stocking presents for both the youngest girls already, just things like bubble bath, pyjamas etc. Will add one thing they actually ask Father Christmas for in December. Spent around £30 in total...
Also bought some things for the boys, but I find the girls easier to predict, maybe it's their ages, 4 and 6, so I know they will like pink sparkly stuff, while eldest DS is 10 so I have no idea, and youngest DS only really likes Thomas the Tank engine and Cars and is relentless on them so am half expecting him to have a new craze come Christmas.
Oh have also put a Christmas savings tin in the lounge, which I am putting any money I find in the house and any coins I find in my purse at the end of the day. I'm not expecting it to generate much but every little helps.
Lastly I am saving all my clubcard points for Christmas this year... I said that last year but failed mid-year when I saw some "must have bargains" (haha), this year I intend to succeed0 -
I have not been impressed with the Christmas card selection this year either. I picked up a packet of 10 today for £1.25 but I didn't like any of the others I saw. Will keep my eye out for another couple of weeks.
I have a spreadsheet of everyone I am buying birthday and Christmas gifts for and a budget for each. I have then worked out how much per month I need to save for those gifts. I put the money in my savings account each month so I can buy gifts as I go along, although most Christmas gifts tend to be bought August onwards.
We found this year that Tesco had alot of great deals/money off codes on toys and they were always the best price to start with anyway. i made use of the tesco boost on a few toy purchases this year but not all. I have decided this year I am saving the clubcard points ready for the boost to buy as much of the kids stuff as possible. We get the clubcard points from fuel and shopping I can't get from aldi so I don't spend anymore than normal to get the clubcard points and we already have £30 built up in them since the last statement! Hoping this will result in a very low phsyical spend for the kids birthday/xmas gifts but with a much larger RRP value0 -

This really made me laugh......me and my dh don't bother with cards....we are so unromantic lol0 -

After me saying I had enough gift wrap I saw the 20p rolls in Sainsburys and bought 5! Already posted in the grabbit thread but also got 2 pks of bows, 3 reels of ribbon and 2 small mini card packs(20), spent just over £2 for all of it which I'm happy with.0

I now have a gift for my OHs best friend & brother and my two nephews. Wrapping paper/cards/tags/embellishments/ribbon etc are also now done.
It is weird, I wasn't really in the mood for yule 2014...now I am hyped for yule 2015...
I will probably put £5-£10 a month aside for food. It is enough for just my mother and I...if my finances change then I may increase it. Then I will probably buy 1 present or so a month after april...In the summer I am off to the good food show, and I often get a few pressies from thereSo that is my plan this year too!

I bought a lot of half price stuff in Tesco for xmas, mothers day etc. I got some 10m rolls of xmas paper 50p too. Also I am saving each month for xmas and then if I see any bargains I've got the money ready.
Got a great bargain from build a bear for my nieces. Bears, pjs and a coat each for £12 a bear!!!! all in sale and a £10 voucher used saving £38... I love saving money.£1000 Emergency fund challenge #225 - £1000.00.00/£1000- End of Baby Step 3 (A work in progress)0 -
I forgot! I am in the xmas saver club at Tesco. I had £124 to double up this year. got Clarins, aftershave and a hudl plus lots more for nothing!!
can't wait to see what the total of vouchers is for this year. I get my husband to get his petrol there and I use a Tesco credit card to pay for my shopping(which I pay straight off) so extra points there too.£1000 Emergency fund challenge #225 - £1000.00.00/£1000- End of Baby Step 3 (A work in progress)0 -
Another £50 saved this morning, so £100 saved so far
If I save £50 a month from now to November, I'll have £600. That should pay for all of the presents.
I am planning on saving £5 a week of Morrisons saving stamps (to pay for Christmas food), but haven't managed to even go to Morrisons yet.0 -
Have brought enough xmas cards in the sales to last 2-3 years. Brought 10 metre wrapping paper from Wilko for a £1.
Started buying Xmas/birthday pressie in the sales on Boxing Day. People think I am crazy. I live on a budget and have no choice! Love this thread.0
