Of course Tesco will replace it - I have ever confidence - just take it back

    For a clearly user-damaged screen?
  • Perhaps this is a good lesson for your son to look after his things?

I had the same when my daughters ipod broke after she dropped it. It didn't get replaced until the following Christmas and she is much more careful now :)

So buying it after the accident has happened? Do they allow tablets to be used in Holloway?

Well, it's the sons tablet, and he won't be getting arrested.

Having previously worked in electronics retail before, I have offered this as a solution to customers before. Although, if somebody came in to buy it, I wouldn't sell it without first seeing the product to be covered.

There are also no limitations in the T&Cs which say that you must have a non broken item when you buy the cover. You just have to buy within 60 days of the original purchase.

If they're not going to write it out of the T&Cs, then not the OPs problem. They're effectively offering 60 days free accidental damage cover with a £30 excess. After that, it's £30.

In fact, the T&Cs cover breakdown in the insured period, but any accidental damage to the item with no prescribed period.

The more I've read, the more convinced it's not even a little bit untoward.
