Hurl 2 cracked screen

My 9 year old son had a new hudl for Christmas with a rubber protective case. This morning the dozy lad dropped it. It now has 2 cracks in the screen, 1 from either side meeting in the middle. It wasn't dropped from a great height ( waist level of a 9 year old) and onto laminate floor.
To me this seems to be rather lot of damage for what happened, I have dropped my own tablet without any damage at all.
Would this be worth taking back to Tesco or should I start crying now?

Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're up to.

Start crying. User damage isn't covered by any consumer law, only home insurance. Even having a more child friendly rubber bumper will be unlikely to be guaranteed against dropping from height.
On the plus side many tablets work quite well with screen damage. My 4 year old trod on my Kindle Fire and cracked the screen in March and its still working. It's now unofficially her one as I replaced it assuming it would give up the ghost.0 -
I may be wrong, but I think Tesco offer some form of Hudl Accidental damage cover.
It may be worth a) trying to buy this as a standalone product and then claiming, or b) taking it back and hope for a reasonable staff member who will sell you the cover and let you claim there and then.
You're more likely to succeed in this if you purchased it shortly before christmas. If you've had it for months, I would personally be less likely to offer this as a solution if I were working for Tesco, but I imagine it's down to the person you speak to.
eta:
2 year protection: £30 (http://www.tesco.com/direct/squaretrade-2-year-computer-warranty-plus-accident-protection-100-14999-items/622-3383.prd)
3 year protection: £45
In future, always worth considering this when buying electronics for a child!0 -
I'm crying
it doesn't work after the crack so its useless!

So was the reference to "hurl" in the subject line an accurate description of what happened?0

Of course Tesco will replace it - I have ever confidence - just take it backWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

So buying it after the accident has happened? Do they allow tablets to be used in Holloway?0
