Hi, my father in law is currently a sky customer. We have just bought him a laptop and want him on broadband so we can email him etc, just a simple package. Can anybody give us an idea what we need to do as we are not Sky customers Thanks

Tell him to ring Sky up and ask about their Broadband packages.
Tell him to haggle, they will bend over backwards to get him as a customer of BB and telephone etc.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Do you mean he currently gets Sky Broadband and you want to know how to setup the laptop so that he can access the Internet through it, or do you mean he's a Sky TV/Phone Line customer but doesn't currently have broadband?
If he hasn't got broadband but does get a phone line through Sky then he could ask to get Sky broadband, or see who currently has the best broadband deal available (maybe even phone Sky up and say such and such has a better phone line + broadband deal and can Sky beat it?).
If he has a phone line with someone else, the same applies.
If, however, he has broadband and you want to know how to get his laptop setup you'd need to supply a bit of info such as does he have a router and does he know his WiFi connection details (SSID and WPA/PSK2 key).0 -
Ok he has a sky phone line and tv package, he's had this for a while now. he's never had a pc.... so it's a new broadband package and emailIf youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0

Gotcha. Yep, in that case I'd find a list of all the suppliers to his house and their prices. Identify the cheapest one and then give Sky a call to see if they'd be willing to beat it.
If they're not willing to beat it, if your father-in-law is willing to switch then it'd make sense to switch.0 -
Sky i found are pretty good, i have super internet, real fast, never gets cut off or slowed down, you should get broadband cheaper if you already have sky tv and phone, they will send him a router and it is dead easy to set up. They will do the rest of getting him online.
Go for best price you can, even if someone like talk talk can beat it it won't be by very much, sky are better than talk talk, virgin and EE i found, and they have localised customer service, not outsourced to India.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

Get it free for 12 months. He already has the TV and phone line anyway.
If you go though Quidco you will get £110 cashback as well. Just search for Sky Digital Upgrades. You may have to put in a claim for the cashback with Quidco so keep a note of your order reference.0
