is FTTP "real" yet?

Appreciate it isn't exactly money saving, but is proper FTTP available from any providers yet outside of a couple of isolated local trials?
My line (house to cab) seems to be awful, is connected to a cab out of sight (not exactly sure where, but the guy drove to it during install,,,) despite there being one within about twenty yards, and I suspect the house to cab is aluminium rather than copper cable. Can't get much over 30Mb down on FTTC, but don't really want to move to Virgin if I can help it.
So - is there anyone doing say 330Mb FTTP nationally (or south coast), or on an outside punt is there a way to convince (or pay for) BT to pop a decent bit of new copper from the nearest cab to my house?

As you don't have native FTTP at your address, you should sooner or later get FTTP on demand (if not already available) as the BT Adsl checker is now reporting FTTPoD service for many FTTC areas. However as things stand this is expensive, a few grand installation costs (at least) and £200+ vat per month. Gradwell is one such ISP offering FTTPoD and i believe Plusnet and Zen are also offer FTTPoD. Get your wallet out...

PS
No point in blaming ISPs for the eye watering prices, its Openreach who dictate the prices0 -
Strange as it sounds my house can only get FTTP but not FTTC (even though there is an active fibre cab at end of road 40 yards away). I guess there are not a lot of takers as it costs £40 a month for '200'mb and £50 a month for '300'mb.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Are these provided by "niche" suppliers who I can't find, or am I just SOL due to area?0 -
I'd snap either of those up in a heartbeat!

They are provided by BT. I am not a taker because I don't really need those speeds plus I am currently paying less than £14 a month for both line rental and Broadband (£8.69 Primus and £5 Sky). Having said that I may consider FTTC if it was available at the lower price.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
