Cheerfulness your crusted chicken sounds lovely!
It was yummy. Something so simple and yet tastes delicious.
I made sweet potato wedges as well as normal after reading someone else talking about them on here. They were lovely and caramelised with crispy edges. I'll definitely have those again as I prefer them to standard wedges.
I'll have a look for an onion bread recipe later. Would you know what make your breadmaker is vhalla? I've been through a few in my time.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Hi there,
My bread maker is called 'Elevation' (seriously). I know it works because I tried a wholemeal bread mix in it that someone gave me, with the recipe on the side. But I do prefer to make things from scratch so need quantities/proportions etc. Thank you for your concern, Cheerfulness; it's most appreciated.0 -
Evening all, I too remember peeling nail varnished tights from my legs...not that long ago either as one my old uniform was a dress with tights!
Over the next couple of days I'm planning to fix a hole in one of my jumpers- should only take a few stitches...hopefully even I can manage it. The other thing I want to tackle is a pair of boot type. slippers, they have stretched to the point that they slip off my feet...this is they're only fault so I dont want to chuck them. Not sure exactly how to fix them possibly by stitching a fold into the fleecy lining, any ideas gratefully received!

vhalla, no prob. I'll have a look tonight and get you some quantities (if you don't get them before I get back here). I shouldn't really be on here, I've a guest arriving any minute and I'm not 'visitor ready' if you get my meaning. Must get the GTECH out.
I have the same problem with my bootie slippers, Merrylegs, so I'd like some ideas for that as well.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Well I've just submitted my tax-return online...first time, and I was pleasantly surprised by how relatively easy it was! The best bit is that the HMRC are decluttering some overpayment back to me, which will be reinvested in a new-to-us greenhouse for our allotment

Bootee slippers. For a quick fix stitch some ribbon to the back seam long enough to come round to the front and tie. Or elastic 'garters' anchored front and back.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

Another No Spend Day - v proud of myself!!
Question: I have a friend visiting in February. I have no double glazing!!! Dont really want to leave heating on all night but I have no electric blanket for her bed either. I dont want her to be cold - I have duvet; couple of fleece blankets.
Now a fleecy underblanket/matress protector is on order from club book (using free comission money I have earned :-). But a wheatbag would also be a help - I have lavender harvested from last summer but am wondering about the wheat for these things. Do you need a special sort? Can I just buy it from local health food shop? Or where? Any help please. Many thanksAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

Or elastic 'garters' anchored front and back.
Oh now that takes me back. Mum used to make me little elastic garters for my knee high socks when they went loose at the top. I used to have to fold the top of my sock over them to conceal them. At the end of the day I had little pink rings where they'd been.
Still looking for my manual for my breadmaker vhalla. Haven't forgotten you.
Floss, I don't know what to be more envious of. Your greenhouse or your allotment. I used to have both once. Now I've neither.
Spends for today.

Loo roll bought so cleaned out my non foods budget and took the remains needed of 77p from my food budget.
Foods purchased were 1kg of Can't Believe spread @ £1.37 (Morries offer) tin rice pudding @ 15p, huge bag YS dessert pears @ 25p, YS leeks (10) 55p, Piece ginger @ 16p, 300g mature cheese @ £1.69, 3x 500g smoked cooking bacon pieces @ 81p each, pk 8 clubs @ £1 and I slipped in a TV Mag @ 56p.
That little lot cleaned out my purse to the very last penny! The clubs were because I didn't get my flapjacks made for our evening visitor and then I forgot to get them out!
Those dessert pears are going to make me one of my favourite lunches tomorrow. Dolcelatte cheese and pear salad with pinenuts. (I have pinenuts in the freezer that were 5p YS'ed a while back) I can't wait. :jAUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

vhalla, this is very similar to the recipe I used except I used dried herbs and not sage. Sometimes I added a few olives, too.
It uses dried rather than fresh onions as I preferred it after trying both.

Lynplatinum, have you thought of using clingfilm as short-term secondary glazing?
