THANKS nursemaggie! my first inclination too!
sorry about your scratched eye, sounds painful! hope everything goes well for the new home. Hope it all gets sorted out!
  • Hello everyone

I think I'm getting old... Was out yesterday, had one glass of wine with my dinner, came home at quarter past midnight, had 8 hours of sleep but still woke up with a headache and the strange feeling of being hungover, although this can't be from such a little amount of alcohol... And I'm only 28... So I guess by the time I reach 50 it will be bedtime at nine for me and no alcohol ever :-)

But besides not feeling too well I've managed to shipshape the flat - was more than necessary, was quite messy after a very busy week... -, washed three loads and hung them all instead of using the dryer and cooked some spicy semolina to have as dessert the next few days.

Did some unintended minimising today though... You should not wash a new, red pillowcase with some white pillow cases... Luckily it were only two pillowcases that took the colour, while a blanket and a tablecloth stayed ok.

I read that quite some of you are crafting for Christmas. should really get started too, need to finish a cross stitch with a picture of a VW camper van which will be the cover of a notebook for my sister. she has a camper van and will get a logbook for it for Christmas. I don't think I will stitch Christmas cards this year as I have loads of store bought ones, but I might do the gifttags with cross stitching and there are a few things to sew too.

Will now finally wash my hair - been to lazy so far - and then go over to my parents for some knitting (or could actually pack the stitching) and probably some board games. My Mum lost 5 out of the last 7 rounds we played, so she might want revenge... Tonight I'll go out with friends to an italian restaurant and actually wanted to go clubbing afterwards, but since one of my friends went to a party yesterday evening and apparently feels as bad as I feel today I think the two of us will vote against...

    Have a nice Saturday!

'Puter played up this morning but finally got ity sorted - then printer cartridges decided to change colours!! Spent time getting that sorted. How to waste an hour or more :(
Halloween party tonight - Me as Corpse Bride (courtesy of old net curtains) and Dh as a pirate - although i think he'd quite like to stay a pirate all the time.
Shin of beef in the slow cooker with a good dollop of the red wine we didn't care for. Just off to the club to get it decorated for tonight and pick up DS1 who is making the pumpkin soup for everyone. Will pop into our local chippy on the way back for a quick tea before we go out again all dressed up!
Have a good Day all and hope no one gets tricked!!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • meritaten The cheapest way to stuff soft toys is to use a cheap polyester pillow. The trick is to make it firm but not so hard you stretch it out of shape. They charge about 3 times as much for the same thing to stuff soft toys and it is usually a smaller bag too. You can also use the stuffing from an old duvet as long as you wash it. Just pull it about until it is all fluffed up.

I recently bought 2 pillows(to use as pillows) in IKEA and they would be fab for stuffing toys...£1 each...perfect!

I ve not fallen off the face of the earth but am hidden under piles of stuff - do you remember me complaining that it did not seem like my house with it all being so clean and tidy ???............................... well be careful what you wish for - son is home and is helping me to re decorate rooms that he ***** up when he was a horrible teenager! Plus DS1 and he (DS2) turned their stuff out of the loft. 'A few boxes ' my ******. Tons of stuff later the house is a mess covered in old toys and stuff ready for tip trip no 2! Also where we are taking the paper off the wall of the bedroom the old 1886 plaster falls merrily off the wall - or the paper is stuck really well! It will get better ;) it will get better :rotfl:

Oh Lyn, it will get better!
This has happened to me so often just when I was thinking I was getting somewher, someone came along and hoiked out THEIR STUFF and messed up a room or two and the clear hallway. Hang in there it will get better...remember the 9th square...everything will have to shuffle around and then it will be gone! On a positive note however, do you realise what is happening...your offspring are starting to deal with their CARP... as well as HELPING you decorate and make the place nice! Progress? That must be cause for celebration!???

I use pillows for stuffing too as my logic said if its safe for your head its safe for toys :p I can't get to Ikea but Tesco's do a good one for £2. Morrisons did them 2 for £3 but don't seem to stock them now.

I have the bag on wheels full of stuff for the CS tomorrow but more seems to have arrived off Mum and Ds for me to take as well so might need to borrow a donkey to pile it on :rotfl:

I have a line of knitted toys nearly finished so will be sitting doing the bits for them this week. My sewing room is coming along slowly but is now cleared of junk - tip and Cs mainly.

I just don't know how it got to November so quickly :o

  • Evening everyone

Hope all the printer and computers are back in working order, there is nothing more annoying then just wanting to print out one single thing and spending an hour changing the ink, sorting paper jams and all that stuff...

Lyn, it will get better! That is the thing with moving, suddenly you find yourself in a mess... When my parents moved last year my sister and I had to sort our stuff which we had in their loft. Well, we tought that we would only find 2, 3 boxed with book and a few ones with toys but eventually sorted through tons of stuff from books to soft toys to school artwork and my parents living room looked like the spot of an explosion for a few evenings...

Just spend the best part of an hour with my mending basket. Meant to do that last weekend but somehow postponed it. Took me about ten minutes to fix two tights with holes in it and a bra which had a tear. The rest of the time was spent getting my sewing machine to work properly to fix some holes in two pillowcases...

Finances in October have been quite good, spent unexpectedly little money on food and will try to keep that up during November. The rest was okish and I did spent quite some money on a ticket for a show which a friend wanted to see. But then, better spending money to do things than to get things...

Today I had a coffee out with some friends and we did some knitting. Then went for a walk had dinner with my sister. Made a mushroom pie which was lush with some spuds and mixed veggies and left overs will be my lunch tomorrow. Dessert was the semolina thingie I made yesterday.

Finally finished my knitted scarf - finished knitting last week but had to sew it together - and started a hat for myself in time for the colder days. Decorated my living room more winterish and somehow look forward to cominig home into a cosy flat after a cold day.

I just saw that a dancing school near where I live advertised Solo Charleston lessons and wonder if I should just try it out. Was looking for a suitable course for me for a while now. Dancing courses for waltz and that kind are very hard to find as a single and although I would love to take lessons in ballett dancing I know that I'm far too clumsy and "unelegant" for that... So I might just take the plunge and subscribe. The course is quite inexpensive and in case I absolutely don't like it it is little money spent.... Will have to sleep over it and then decide next week.

    Have a nice evening everyone!
