just want to say nursemaggie I hope everything goes well. my son got rehoused ten years ago and at first sight, the house and the estate made his heart sink - but we got stuck in and made the house nice - and when he actually got to know the people on the estate he found they were wonderful friends and he likes it there now. Positive thoughts from me are going your way though!0

Nursemaggie I've also had a really good home from a housing authority rehoming, we were able to specify the kitchen & back doors and to have separate lounge & dining rooms x2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hiya All!!
Am back from the wilds of the Beer Festival!!! It was great fun and because I work at the festival I rarely pay for any beer and often cannot drink all the 'tokens' that I get (you get 4 x half a pint per session - either aft or eve). If you do both sessions you get a food token for either a roll+crisps or a burger or a hot dog. So apart from the bus fare there and taxi back (which I usually share so it only comes to £3 per time) its a free 4 day entertainment. They put me on the 'games stall' which are old fashioned wooden pub games (skittles and shut the box). they amuse people and made £150 out of 40p a go! In the end the fund raising came to £1600 so I was very proud of that. I only have the thank you letters to do now - which usually takes me a morning of knuckling down to it!
In between I have been working and MM&Ming!
More cutting back of shrubs - got rid of a car boot of stuff to a CS and some old files to one of my Mums who has 4 kids and is on benefits and find affording files for the kids school/college work very difficult. So that's Minimising :j
Also since doing my exercises (after having broken my leg - I still do them) although I have not lost any weight - when I put on some winter trousers the other day they trailed along the ground(whereas previously the sideways fat used to keep em up off the ground!) so have had to take them up! So that's Mending!
Then (deep joy) my Fridge freezer has decided that the fridge bit shall not work :-( so have borrowed a cold box - put freezer blocks in there and am Making Do until new fridge freezer arrives. Am hoping that freezer section holds out as that is stuffed full of food for when DS comes next week to do repairs to the house!!
Am loving Morr!sons!! :j I go there on a Tues as the client I teach is on the same estate as one - so tonight I got small granary loaf + duck and orange pate (breakfast tomorrow) + spring onions (keep in jar of water much better than in fridge anyway) + cinnamon whirls (for freezer for son's breakie one day) and a small pork chop for me tea! Cost - £2.14!!!!! Wow !! Just Wow!!!!
Am now on a quest to minimise my waist line and will try to stick to it until Christmas - I will update you on here - I know there is a weight loss thread but it doesnt quite seem me somehow- am going for eating only meat; fish; fruit and veg with a little bit of cheese here and there. allowed one treat a day - probably home made low fat and low sugar fruit cakes or tea loaf or flapjack.
Vulpix - do hope your recovery is going well and that careless workfolk have stopped messing up your house! Am dying to know if the state the workfolk left it in killed or cured your Sil?????? :rotfl:
Nurse Maggie - how thoughtless and insensitive of your landlord - I really could not do that to someone! Really hope the H Association can help you and that it turns out that you end up with a nicer place in the end.
Valhalla - you sound nearly as busy and sociable as me!! Am off to a concert on Thurs!! (pre paid for!) Must keep to resolution not to drink or eat rubbish tho! Wish me luck folks! :A
Nite allAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

Good morning!
Great to hear how everyone is keeping busy.Nurse Maggie I am pleased to hear that the house situation is looking better.
I am feeling great.2 weeks yesterday since the op and I have come a long way.Our NHS is fantastic.Yes I could find things to complain about if I tried, but why try to find fault, they are amazing.
I haven't been up to much, did shuffle across the road to the library van, another fab service to be grateful for.
My SIL did a sterling job with the cleaning, she brought her own products as she was horrified that I only use a damp cloth for dusting and bleach in the bathroom and kitchen. She cleaned all the windows too.
I intend to get Mr V to bring the Christmas pressies down out of the loft today.I can start wrapping and then they can go back again.
I have done no MM&M as I haven't felt up to much. All homemade freezer meals now used up and we have had chippy tea a couple of times.I can feel that I have put weight on so need to get a grip on that. Will join you on the run up to Christmas Lyn,see if we can lose 1/2 stone.
Son and GF loving Canada, currently in the Banff area looking for work.

Well we had confirmation last night from an estate agent the landlord is selling the house. He wants to take photos. DS suggests we leave it messy with boxes all over and he will not want to photograph.
Well it will only get worse as we pack. Surely the estate agent realises the house will take months to sell as there are already three for sale and two to let within a few meters. Most are directly opposite and one three doors up the road. I have worked out in this area of about 400 houses one in ten is either for sale or to let.0 -
Thank you for the knitting help nursemaggie and I share your anxiety over housing. As you know we rent privately too so I understand and empathise greatly about what you're going through at the moment. Thank you for taking the time to help me with thumbs!
Ah knitting. My nemesis! I have stumbled across tapestry crochet so I'm hoping to learn that skill in the near future. I have an overwhelming want to have a sheep on a garment!
Raining lots here today but it was nice walking to school wellied up and kicking through leaves.
I am going to bake today. I have dabbled minimally since grains became an issue for me but I am going to treat my family to a mince and onion pie and fresh wholemeal breadPerfect weather for it.
Making do? Well that is my unfinished cup of tea from before the school run, whizzed in the microwave and being supped as I type.
Have a calm and peaceful day everyone.0 -

Not your problem, nursemaggie. You will soon move into a new place, giving you and your DS a fresh start, whilst your current landlord will have an empty house on his hands with no rent money coming in.......maybe there is a good reason for the sale, maybe the landlord is in serious financial difficulties, as many of us have been, but that is not your problem. He obviously went into renting out property to make money, and if it's all gone belly up then it is not fair that you or other tenants should suffer.
I am sure you will find somewhere good soon, and maybe it was meant to be - sometimes we all need a change. One life - your life - live it!0 -
What is wrong with this thread- all the letters are missing but not on other threads *mystified*?0

There must be a gremlin in the works. It was the new format when I switched on this morning, it asked me to login and then it returned to the old format.
I returned from shopping a short while ago and all these letters are missing, hopefully the boffins are working on it.
Your's appears to be OK Jan
