Evening MMMers
I have a knitting question. I started the headband and the pattern is k6, p4, k6, p4, k6 then next row p6, k4, p6, k4, p6 and then repeat. I'm finding that when I go from knit to purl there is a bit of a gap in the stitches. Is it supposed to be like that or am I doing something wrong? It doesn't go like that when I go from purl to knit. Any help greatly appreciated.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

misstara Can't see what you are doing wrong but maybe you are not pulling your yarn as tight when it gets a gap. You just need to keep it even.0

Evening all
Hoping to get to bed at midnight tonight as am kna!kered!!
Firstly - well done Maryb and Mrs Lurcherwalker. Bargains!
Thanks to all re the paint - may not it till summer hols - explain in a moment!!
GQ - yes it was (and is!) a cure for ear wax! My ex MIL refused toeat food that was cooked in it at first because she viewed it as a medicine - so we cheated and did not tell her that we used it till after she had enjoyed her spag bol!!
Today has been great and very MM&M!! My son's friend came round and took clapped out kitchen cupboards off the wall (and filled the holes up) and removed the clapped out kitchen drawers and used one of the cupboard doors to make where the drawers were into a cupboard. He also unblocked the sink and filled in a crack in the bathroom wall with the spare filler!! Such a gem. He is also making me a long shelf (6ft) to go back up and managed to get the wood from a friend for just £10!! :j He wouldn't take any money for his time but he said that I had paid him over the years in tea, cake and dinners and sympathetic ear!! Oh and three weeks living here for free on one occasion when a girlfriend threw him out of the flat he paid for by changing the lock while he was at work!! Poor lad! Wish he could find someone who does n't use him!!
Anyway while he was here being so industrious I had to help out and do stuff when he didn't need me to pass him stuff or find scewdrivers et al I pottered around in the garden!! So have been on the go and bending around all day! Now I ache all over - arthritis is letting me know that I dont do as much as I used to!! Blimey!
Hope you are all well and not over doing it and aching like me!

came home from DDs with a plateful of left over cooked veg so that is going with a quarter of a cooked pie from the freezer for dinner toningh with some gravy.HM soup for lunch with left over tasty blue cheese and cracker .Porridge for breakfast shortly as its looking rather damp and grey out there. I'll just get my 'morning mile ' in before it buckets down I think.Weather's not looking so good this week, still the garden will enjoy the watering I expect.
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing

Hi all :j
Very rainy here, handy for the garden but I hope it clears up a bit so I can go out & get some plants etc in....sadly neglected recently TBH...hope it's better weather where you are!
Another day to do plenty as I am not cooking, fast day today/Weds - second week on 5:2, lost 3lb last week so happy with that although probably all water LOL.
Bit the bullet & asked DH to help me clear stuff out, I am just not going to be able to make an impression on my own. Think it's because I am attacking bits here & there & therefore no real appreciable progress being made.. he agreed but am not sure he will get anything done, well we'll see..
May have to go out later, have been avoiding shopping but toilet rolls running low, no MMM with those .....didn't do my weekly shop this week - we were out so no time - should be able to manage with very little as all cupboards/freezers etc stuffed with food.
Re mending I have pile of stuff that needs attention, buttons, seams etc, plus the dreaded trousers to take up. Any tips you experienced sewing persons?? Scared of cutting the legs off wrong tbh!!New start JAN15 - NOT BUYING IT 2015 . misstara wish I could help but knitting just isn't my forte. I have tried and tried... and give up. Crochet is my game.
An unexpected day off today as DD is poorly so I intend sorting through the freezer. Sausage casserole for tea I think.
As far as the minimise part of this thread goes does anyone else have real issues with minimising their cooking equipment? I have tins this, moulds that, trays umpteen but I need them all. :cool:0 -
Hello all,
I wonder if I can join you, I've been reading through the thread with interest, and although I'm no good at sewing or knitting, the principles of MM&M are very poignant for me just now!
I am 29, and just finished work on Friday for maternity leave, first baby due in 4 weeks time. My DH and I have been saving up for over a year to cover my lost earnings while on mat leave, so we will manage fine with all the bills etc. When I return to work next year, there is a possibility that I will be moving into a promoted post but on a part time basis, so although a slightly higher hourly rate, I would take a pay cut overall. I would lose about £700-800 a month. However, the job would become full time in a few years, and with a baby, working part time would be wonderful.
I've always been keen on paying off our mortgage as quickly as possible, so working part time will delay this, but I think my priorities are changing, we can continue with our normal mortgage payments until I'm working full time again, and then concentrate on overpaying, but while I have a little one, I would rather have less money but more time at home. With a few adjustments in our budget, sensible meal planning and cheap days out/activities, there's no reason it can't be doable.
This week I plan to use up as much of the food I have in the freezer as possible, and then batch cook some meals and soups for those first couple of weeks at home with a baby. I'm rather slow on my feet these days, so will be taking my time about it all!

Welcome weesmiler
congratulations on your pregnancy. You sound like you have everything sorted and well prepared for your little one to come into your lives. There is so much value in being home when you have a family and having struggled with being available for family life these past 5 months I appreciate the idea of less money and more family/home time.
Youngest and I have squished all the soap ends together to make a new bar of soap. There's probably 6 months worth of scraggy ends in there that will last all of a couple of weeks but waste not want not0 -
Afternoon all!
Prescription phoned through to chemist this morning for my usual soapless gunk et.c...it's surprising how much I get through!
Then I went with Mum to Smiths today...she wanted a copy of the Daily Mail ....well.. actually she didn't really want the paper, but wanted the Lego toy that you get with it...she has checked the sets on offer and wants one on Wednesday and one on Friday too...that will give her a couple of nice 'stocking fillers' for Christmas...never to early to start collecting bits and bobs for Christmas!
Pasta for dinner tonight...Fish planned for tomorrow...Goulash on Wednesday...and then the freezer will be empty - defrost on Thursday and I'll be ready to start restocking!
I managed to find an old belt which I will start wearing over jeans...I am at an 'awkward' size - with my waist a good size/size-and-a-half smaller than my huge hips...every pair of jeans/trousers I own is sliding down to 'hipster' style!...There is still a lot of wear in them, so I hope the belt will keep the waist in place!
And a warm welcome to weesmiler!...you'll get a lot of help and tips on this thread!....Can you knit or crochet? It might be an idea to learn if you can't already....get knitting for the little one!0
