    ...and could someone please run for the smelling salts, as rtandon has possibly keeled over in disgust that friday night, was NOT pizza night :eek: And she might need them still, as Saturday night wasn't curry night, neither :eek::eek:...

    In keeping with restoring normalcy to our worlds...;)
    MrL report for next week...
    29p deals are 250g of radish, 1kg onions, cucumber (each), red pepper (each)...
    I'm a bit puzzled over the salad ingredients - surely these are not seasonal? - peppers & onions on the other had are well in keeping with this time of year!
    also spotted in the flyer are the yellow & green tin of clarified butter (ghee) which we often use instead of oil when cooking - a good price for 500g - 2.49
    (for the non-veggies it's also seafood week - some nice fresh & frozen bargains)

    greenbee, what is this concept of which you speak???? :rotfl:

    What a tonic. What a lovely bunch you are - such good humour and fun. Thank you :D

    We pootled off to the local natty trusty place, this afternoon. Took a picnic lunch with us, and sat amongst the flowers and the bees in the garden. It was heaving on-site, but not too bad where we were, so it was a pleasant way to while away a couple of hours :D

    I have had a nsd today! Much needed after the 'excesses' ;) of the week :D

    Tea this evening didn't end up being curry. I used things out of the freezer, so that takes care of tomorrow's 'theme'. I am going to make Lemony spinach hotpot tomorrow night to use up the remaining aubergine. My dilemma is what to do about the kala chana (brown chickpeas) that I have left. They are bringing me absolutely no joy to eat whatsoever. They make everything a 'worthy' eat :( I still have at least a kilo left. Ironically, when I checked in the asian supermarket the other day, they were the same price as 'conventional' chickpeas. i had bought them as an experiment, as they were cheaper (slightly) and I was trying to shave pennies off the food bill. I can't think of how to use them in a way that will be enjoyable, but cannot countenance 'chucking' them either.

    Tonight we had the remainder of the Turlu (cypriot stew), with cous cous, leeks and broad beans. Picture here;

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    My DH, soulmate, partner, friend and all-round good egg. A keeper.

    Sunshine, plentiful and warming. A tonic.

    Time spent with my family building memories. A blessing.

    Thanks for popping by and making me laugh out loud. Appreciated. Greatly.

    I quite like brown chickpeas, but tend to prefer them in stews or curries where they are a relatively small proportion of the dish. have you tried using them for hummus?

    GP - have you tried them Punjabi style?

    A friend made them with a recipe similar to this one & they were just delish with plain white rice & cucumber raitha.

    Also just googled this slow-cooker recipe, as I've not got a pressure cooker which I understand is a fool-proof way to soften them.

    If they still don't float your boat perhaps a foodbank may take them off your hands?

    I like the brown chick peas :D but then I'm a bit weird like that :D I take it they're dried rather than tinned? Can you put them into a screw top plastic jar and glue the top on to make a rattly rattle shaker to entertain Baby Greying?? :D

    A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
