Useage discrepancy high gas /low elec ?
I have a smart meter and my current supplier bills were higher from £90 of old to £125
Also after changing suppliers i failed to get my final bill from my previous supplier -so i had to call them and was told i was in debit .
Am i liable for the outstanding bill -given that had i not requested it i would have avoided it ?
Thxs

Have you actual meter readings - not £'s - for the periods ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

When you change suppliers your old supplier is provided with the closing read and in electricity this is done by your new suppliers agent. Until this happens they can't produce a final bill. And yes you are liable to pay it. You don't say when you switched or from which supplier.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Smart meters are typically unique to a particular company. When you switched it is likely that the second company has had to use them in non-smart mode. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Could you detail the actual readings for us please ?
The Eon smart meter ceases to be smart with Sainsburys and you will need to submit readings to stop getting estimated billsNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
The % readings are from kwh useage - not money.I switched from E-on who had smart meter to Sainsburys.
I'm really just trying to specifically ascertain whether 33% more gas BUT 26% less electricity can be used.
But yes it is possible for gas usage to increase over a year and electricity to decrease at the same time. Gas usage is typically for heating, so heavily influenced by the weather. Electricity less so, maybe you were just more efficient with your electricity usage over a year. Maybe you changed out an electric shower for one running off the hot water supply, heated by gas. Maybe your new supplier is using estimated readings....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. From those figures, I would assume that gas does your heating and hot water (possibly a hob as well). They don't look unreasonable for annual usage, but it's clearly the change you are concerned about.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. What dates do those figures cover? Also, were any estimated readings used at any point, presumably not with E.On and your smart meters, but if it covers a period before the smart meters were installed, there could have been some adjustments made. Also, since your change in supplier, have any estimated readings been used, as the smart meters will no longer be "smart".

Afaik those are not estimates as they were annual usage statements and they were in keeping with smart meter readings. They cover April to April.0 -

Your figures don't look wildly out though, just take regular (weekly perhaps at first) readings from now on and monitor it more closely if you want to explain your usage pattern.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
