Looking for family holiday inspiration

Hi all, was posting to see if anyone had any personal recommendations for a location for my next possible summer family holiday. I've been to Majorca, specifically Pollensa, the last 3 times and although we love it there, we felt a bit like we'd exhausted it this year. I'd love to take my 2 kids away in summer school holidays next year but actually have no idea where I fancy going.

I did explore the possibility of Italy as I love everything Italian but we didn't think it would be too brilliant for our kids (aged 18months & 6yo) especially as there doesnt seem to be an easy way to get there from Manchester (our toddler is not great at travelling either). Our preferences are self catering, good kids pools, plenty of quality local eateries nearby (definitely NOT British and/or pubs though!) nice scenery and sunshine (but not ridiculously hot!) and direct flight from Manchester with no more than about 1 hour transfer to accommodation. Oh and reasonably priced as we're feeling the pinch a bit nowadays.

I'm not keen at all on Turkey, or the Canaries. I'm also a raver so Ibiza is definitely a no no as I go once a year without kids and wouldn't enjoy not being able to have a usual Ibiza holiday with kids there! Any one been.anywhere that could tick the boxes! TIA!

Ryanair to Beziers and stay on the coast, you may need to hire a car though.

    Menorca around Mahon.
  • Well for starters here is a list of all destinations out of MAN......process of of elimination, and start from there, once you've narrowed it down to lets say 3 countries/cities then ask for info........if that fails why not visit a travel agent?

Italy is a great choice for kids. We stayed in lido de jeselo when my daughter was just 2 and found it ideal
We stayed in a hotel which was probably better suited to adults but found the resort itself to have a great beach and plenty of cars, restaurants, shops etc without being overly lively
It might not seem like the obvious choice but there's plenty of family 'campsites' that have static caravans, chalets and even luxury apartments that are located on the beachfront. they all have huge pools and kids clubs etc and there's a mini train that runs from most sites into the resort centre. Easy to get to Venice too
Lake Garda has some great resorts too.

Failing that try looking at the Greek islands (I'd recommend corfu or kos) or the western Algarve perhaps.

  • We got a great deal in the May half term in Paphos, Cyprus. Direct flights from Manchester and short transfer. The hotel was great for kids and absolutely spotless:

I suppose the difficulty may be that a 5hr flight might be a bit much for your littlest one?

I'd say Turkey would be a good possibility.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

If you are looking for Italy another vote for Lido de Jeselo. Lots of great beaches and very Italian feel to the place and of course easy to get to Venice.

Try the algarve - flying into faro as there's a breeze.

We enjoy more traditional resorts but balance with children's needs and have Enjoyed menorca near citadella, Nerja on Costa del sol, pefkos on rhodes, georgeopolis in western Crete etc.

All of which have had a breeze.

This year it's between lisbon or Bilbao coast as want it cooler if possible

Perhaps read the Tripadvisor forums about Menorca, lots of good information on there. Btw the UK's worst airline for delays and cancellations, Monarch, dominates on flights to the island, they are well worth avoiding.
