Hi, thanks for the reply, this is the engine details:
Engine power 143 bhp Engine size 1796 cc
I did suspect that MB were good quality so should give high mileage, but just wasn't sure and someone commented 60k+ was "high" ie could result in lots of costs in next few years. Might just go for it!
Well if it's regularly serviced, it should technically last a long time but don't forget it's a relatively more complex engine compared to your bog standard car, mainly because it has a small supercharger. Mercedes don't make the quality of cars that they use to make in the 80s and early 90s. Those cars could easily reach 500k plus. Also don't expect cheap repair bill if something goes wrong, parts are expensive0 -
Which engine exactly?
Given regular oil and filter changes you should be looking at well over 250K.
After that it's likely to need fuel pump, injectors etc.
Many M-Bs are scrapped because the body has rusted out.
The OP is referring to a petrol model, so 150k if we'll maintained. Sitting w my DH who is mechanic who specialises in mercs, he says check the rear brake pipes as they have a tendency to rot on 2007/8 models.0 -
These engines are prone to stretched timing chains and worn sprockets. Give it a google. I was looking at a c220k and was put of by this.0

Most car engines can hit high mileage these days, not just MB.
Its usually other factors that kill off cars, corrosion being a big one. Next big ticket items like turbos, and old cars also something like a clutch can see people scrap cars.
It's general maintenance items that will cost you the money before the engine itself.
60k mile isn't that high but approaching an age where wear starts to truly kick in0 -
My 2001 C200 kompressor is on 103,000 miles, it runs beautifully, do 400 miles per week and expect it to run up to 200,000 miles in the next 4 years with regular maintenance. I have had very new cars, however this one is supremely comfortable and reliable......0

I'd have a bulge in my pants if I could afford a nice car with as little as 60k miles on it!
Although engine in my car is designed for over 1 million miles.0 -
Don't buy it! The W203 has a simplex chain that tends to jump the timing gears and smash the engine. Around 60K is exactly when the problem starts. Just google "W203 timing chain problem" or similar. A nice low-mileage W202 (duplex chain) would be a better buy and far cheaper too.0
