DVD ripper software?

Hi
Just ordered a WD Mycloud 4TB.
I'm now looking to start ripping my own dvd collection onto digital format, mostly DVDs with the odd blu-Ray if possible. One that will also compress the file size if possible. I'm looking for either free or bought software but more importantly something that's easy to use, navigate, easy to use, stable and is easy to use
Will I encounter protection issues when ripping my own DVDs ?
In the season of miracles, does such a programme exist?
Thanks

I use DVDFAB and have had no issues with any DVD or blu-ray I have tried. Although depending upon the options you select the file sizes can be quite large0

Think about the format you want to save in; I ripped a load of movies onto my WD MyCloud tdrive, and formatted them in .mp4 for the iPad; we've just got a Samsung TV and it can't play that format...0

+1 for DVDFab. I rip the .main movie. only using 'dvd5' setting, which is a fairly big file size, but maintains a decent quality.
There's a free trial and I think to purchase the converter element after the trial is less than £10 per year0 -
Another DVD ripper freebie, expires in 5 hours 30 mins...
