sorry if i have posted in the wrong place
i have been in my flat for about 2 years now and it was fine untill the local teenagers started playing up
i am a single mum to two children one just 2 and one just 1
in recent months the local teenagers have been getting out of hand to name a few things
we have had fireworks going off in the woods behind us at 2am in the morning the woods are literaly 20yards from our frontroom,
our neibour below us was broken into at 1am,
they set fire to the bins outside the flats wich are directly below my kids bedroom window they sit on the wall outside shouting, swearing smashing bottles all hours, they throw stones at everyones windows
the other biggest problem is that my 2 year old daughter dose not sleep she never has done since birth i have taken her to my doctors who just say its behavuioral and that i should just shut her in her bedroom and leave her there(his exact words)she has no naps during the day and sometimes dosent fall asleep till anything from 12pm - 3am also all the noise is not helping her to sleep also now she and the teenagers are waking her younger sister who used to be a good sleeper
i wrote a e-mail explaining my concerns to my housing !!! and also told them of my conserns that i have to leave one of my children downstairs whilst i carry the other one up as i tried carrying them both up once but it resulted in a fall luckily only bruises all round i also told them that i am on the verge of a nervious break down from lack of sleep, eating and sheer worry that one of my children are going to get seriously hurt soon with all that is hapening
Dear Ms
Thank you for your e-mail regarding your housing situation. There are two
options available for you to move from your present address.
The first is to advertise for an exchange with another tenant. I have sent
you an exchange form in the post today and if you can complete it and
return to us we will carryout a search for you from our database.(i have already done this) The
second option is to apply for a transfer via the Joint Housing Transfer
Register which is run by P City Council. Please contact them
directly on and they will send you a transfer form which you
need to complete and return to them
so really i dont know what to do the local teenagers are now going to get worse as it it the summer holidays and they will be out later drinking more as i said my little girl only needs 4 hours sleep a night and when she finaly falls asleep i am still awake worrying that every little noise could be someone trying to break in is a fire work or stone going to come through the window and with the 2 weekly alternative collections now i worry as there is alot of rubbish in the bins that a fire would get out of hand and end up setting fire to my girls bedroom im that concerned that i have now moved both girls into my bedroom so all three of us and 2 cots are squeesed into my room
i have now also sent my housing !!! a letter outlining all of the above and asked for a housing officer to visit me at home but im sure i will just receive the same responce as i did to my email
i am seriously considering giving the flat up but its so hard to find rented accomidation on dss/housing benefit and also to get back on the housing register would take years if they even let me back on
any advice would be hugly appreciated
thanks

Get out of there and quick.
If you can't get council accommodation, couldn't you get private - housing Benefit will pay. If you need the deposit etc, ask them for a Budgeting Loan and under the circumstances, you would hopefully have a good chance.
I really feel for you and yours, I would be beside myself with worry about my children. Where's their Dad?0 -
have you spoken to your health vistor. he/she might be able to help with the housing bit as you will have someone on your side that understands. i wouldn't move out of the council flat but i would go to the council offices everyday with your complaint, as they can't ignore you forever. do you call the police about these teenagers/fires as having crimes numbers and police back-up might help too.
not sure if this is any help but i hope you get something sorted out soon.
keep going to your doctor too as a 2 year old needs more than 4 hours sleep.

i dont have any advice but been watching this thread, there are some brilliant caring people on here who will have lots of advice for you. its getting late but i am sure tomor you will have lots of replies.
i too have 2 children, hope everything works out for you xxLife should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0 -
I would try the sleep clinic, because until you have tried that then it may be difficult to get a referral for any other problems there may be. Some children DON'T need a lot of sleep but if you feel your daughter is not getting enough then there is a problem.
As for the local teenagers, do the neighbours also have a problem? Are they willing to keep complaining?
You could go to the police station and ask to be put in touch with your local bobby (if there is one) or ask if there's a unit dealing with antisocial behaviour. There are no quick fixes for this, though ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

im definatly going to give the sleep clinic a go as ive got nothing to loose by trying it
as for the other residents im in a small block of only six flats and we have all phoned the police, firemen on several occasions and we have all paid several visits to our housing !!! they just keep saying that its being delt with but its obveiously not also the lady on the floor above me has been trying to move for years she has a three/four year old girl and fell down the stairs with her when she was a baby she damaged her back and is still getting physio now for it but they dont even seem bothered about that
in my opinion they dont really care as long as they can go home to there nice cosy quiet home and get paid at the end of the month thats fine:eek: sorry to seem off obviously there are some that care but it seems that i dont have any in my local offices:o0
