Mind, did you see the quality of the packaging?
They would have been far better whacking £10 on and going overboard with the packaging.
I was quite impressed how mine was packed and it arrived intact.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Doesnt really matter. Whoever organised the sale(which was pretty much guaranteed to sell out even at a higher price) scrimped on the packaging.

Awful news for 2,727 employees, unless it can somehow be saved.
The demand for sending and receiving parcels doesn't disappear with that company so a not so different number of people will be hired by other companies so they can meet the demand left behind by them0

It does if the implication is that the couriers were responsible for the packaging when they had no involvement in it and any breakages were due not to widescale delivery/handling but packaging failure not the fault of the couriers.
Would rm/parcel force take responsibility for that?
Fwiw, I sent two parcels Royal Mail in december one was domestic next dAy, I know it hadn't arrived next day, nor some days after. I don't know if its arrived yet. One was Five day US , and while I know us mail cN be patchy, over three weeks was somewhat taking the biscuit for almost fifty quid. Only sent pRcelforce because of lack of organisation meant we were not sending from London where we tend to send with international couriers for better reliability. A parcel onsey box to Italy on the other hand, was cheapest offering and very fast. I might well use that again.0

Once they have made the decision they might be obligated to announce it, but why were they making a decision on Christmas Day? Surely they could have held their meetings and made their decisions the day after christmas. The directors are under a duty to announce at the earliest opportunity they were clearly hoping for something special for Xmas that did not materialise.
CityLink have always been a pretty good courier for me, very sad for the staff involves, especially those who were conned into become contractors instead of employees.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

I don't know how these companies can make money. Hermes collected a largish parcel from the office and delivered it 50 miles away for £2.99. I can't see how they turned a profit0
