Mind, did you see the quality of the packaging?
They would have been far better whacking £10 on and going overboard with the packaging.

I was quite impressed how mine was packed and it arrived intact.

We're volunteers involved in the packaging, or just the dismantling and collection of the poppies?

Doesnt really matter. Whoever organised the sale(which was pretty much guaranteed to sell out even at a higher price) scrimped on the packaging.

As it turns out a company got the contract.

Awful news for 2,727 employees, unless it can somehow be saved.

The demand for sending and receiving parcels doesn't disappear with that company so a not so different number of people will be hired by other companies so they can meet the demand left behind by them

It does if the implication is that the couriers were responsible for the packaging when they had no involvement in it and any breakages were due not to widescale delivery/handling but packaging failure not the fault of the couriers.

Would rm/parcel force take responsibility for that?

Fwiw, I sent two parcels Royal Mail in december one was domestic next dAy, I know it hadn't arrived next day, nor some days after. I don't know if its arrived yet. One was Five day US , and while I know us mail cN be patchy, over three weeks was somewhat taking the biscuit for almost fifty quid. Only sent pRcelforce because of lack of organisation meant we were not sending from London where we tend to send with international couriers for better reliability. A parcel onsey box to Italy on the other hand, was cheapest offering and very fast. I might well use that again.

Unless, like the "demand" for houses the demand isn`t really there :rotfl:

The great delivery companies are the ones that txt or email an eta in the morning and those that have a tracker that tell you when 'ben' or whoever will arrive with your parcel. This revolutionises how people can get on with their day and is worth extra in many circumstances.

    DPD and Ocado?

The directors are under a duty to announce at the earliest opportunity they were clearly hoping for something special for Xmas that did not materialise.

Over on trucknet on a thread dated December 13th, there's a post saying that citylink are rumoured to be finishing Dec 24th.

Once they have made the decision they might be obligated to announce it, but why were they making a decision on Christmas Day? Surely they could have held their meetings and made their decisions the day after christmas.

CityLink have always been a pretty good courier for me, very sad for the staff involves, especially those who were conned into become contractors instead of employees.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
  • I don't know how these companies can make money. Hermes collected a largish parcel from the office and delivered it 50 miles away for £2.99. I can't see how they turned a profit
