Can I leave BT if still have active line rental saver

So. I considered just taking my broadband elsewhere as I am now out of contract, but broadband only deals are too expensive and I would end up paying more than currently.
Rang BT today to see what they could offer me for the next year ( with the view of staying with them for another year and not renewing the line rental saver in the summer) and then moving providers this time next year. Anyway although the woman who I spoke to was very pleasant didnt get her to budge from what I have paid last year, which although an okay bt deal still more than twice what new customers are paying and even factoring in I have pre paid line rental for another six months would still cost more than plusnet or talk talk. Would have been happy if she had just taken another two pounds off.
Asked for my MAC, which I expect I will have to chase. I understand that I then have 30 days to use it, so if I wait a bit before using it I will lose less than 5 months of line rental saver.
Or I may decide to just continue paying bt the standard broadband price until July. Decisions, decisions. Hoping that bt retentions might call me back with a slightly better deal but not holding my breath. Seems bt don't care about retaining customers. When I left virgin media a few years ago they were bending over backwards to keep my custom, offered a sixty percent discount plus increase in package. Wish I'd taken it now and realised I had 14 days to change my mind with bt.
It really irritates me that you have to haggle every year. Some people can just do it and others like me worry about it too much.0 -

It really irritates me that you have to haggle every year. Some people can just do it and others like me worry about it too much. It also annoys me that some people walk away with fantastic deals and others do not . Oh well off to do some more sums and see what the best course of action is.0 -
You may well be contacted by BT with a better deal as you asked for MAC code i was about two weeks later . Though i never got around to a better deal due to picking up the free BT TV offer .0
