Thanks again. 10% doesn't seem much, although I do appreciate that anything is helpful. Do you know how much Pension Credit would add? Would I have to pay anything back? ("Credit" suggests I may have to.) I haven't claimed Pension Credit before.

No you wouldn't have to pay it back.

You should get details of amounts here. http://www.ageuk.org.uk/money-matters/claiming-benefits/pension-credit/who-can-claim-pension-credit/

Many thanks again. Can I just be absolutely clear about this: Even if I didn't claim my pension until after the new April 2016 Pension rules come into force would I still be entitled to claim my pension (being as I am now 68 years of age and haven't claimed before) ?From what I am picking up here, it seems that because of my age I may be safeguarded against any future new rules regarding who may claim a pension and what they will be entitled to.

You would still be treated under the current rules as that is when you reached state pension age.
