Hello
As far as I know you would be eligible for at least the basic old age pension, due to you being over 65. For advice on pensions and maybe other benefits you might be entitled to I suggest you visit your local Citizen's Advice bureau. They have one in every town. To help you find one, you could ask in the local library and they would be able to direct you.
I hope you have somewhere to go today for a hot meal and cheerful company. Best wishes for a warm and happy Christmas, and a good new year.As a fan of THE NUMBER THREAD, our NUMBER IS £22,000 a year = FREEDOM
Amended 2019 - new NUMBER is approx £27k pa nett (touch wood)
Amended 2021 - new NUMBER is approx £29k pa nett - heading that way...fingers crossed!0 -
You can get a post office account and get it paid in there. As far as I know everyone is eligible for a basic post office account.0

May your situation next Christmas be better!
You need advice and assistance. Have you tried the Salvation Army for just over the holiday?
Then http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice or the council local to where you are.
The council may well have a duty to assist you in view of your age? https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/providing-housing-support-for-older-and-vulnerable-people

As far as I know yes, if you cant for some reason then you can give the address of a homeless shelter/day centre or friends and say its a care of address. Obviously you need to get the agreement first of either the service or friend.
Just go in the post office and ask then you know for sure.0 -
I hope next year sees a better Christmas for you! The good news is that whatever pension you were due 3 years ago when you were 65 is now worth 30% more. So contact somewhere like CAB and hopefully between them and other agencies you should soon have your own address. There is nothing like a regular income to make the future seem brighter.0

The Pension Service can quite happily process pensions for people with no fixed abode. If you can give then an address to which mail can be sent (a correspondence address) they will send it there.
They still POCA payments via a post office and can make these weekly.
Alternatively correspondence and payments can be may to an alternative payee - someone you can trust?0 -

Normally I would say yes to deferring a pension. But in this case, the lump sum could help them get someplace to live? # years of basic state pension will cime to quite a sum>?0 -

Hopefully your current situation is not one that has been ongoing for a number of years.
However apart from the problems with the bank account, do you have enough NI contributions to be able to claim your state pension?0
