Sheils, the forest hol sounds good. I was looking at the Northumberland cabins with hot tubs in for £249 for 5 days. I expect they will be a lot more in school hols.
I never thought about the parking charges in Saltholme as we've generally gone on a school bus! It's lovely around the Tees barrage too if ever you are over that way.

I'm sick of hearing about the 'red doors' around here and making national news! They are in the town centre and the 'red doors' have been like that for about 20 yrs! In fact...there are lots of multi coloured doors and it's a bit like Balamory as that's what people did years ago painting doors and windows but some have just left them like that. Most of the town area is ethnic community anyway and always has been so no one would know who were migrants and who weren't. I don't think they are targeted at all.

Not really had as bad weather as I thought we would! Hope there's no snow to come now as expected.

Glad you got your Chalice wingo. That sounds really cheap for a lodge but take it that is for now. The lodge we have booked is near Pickering. Don't know if we will try to get the steam train to Whitby again. Was so angry we were left for so long last time waiting in the broken down train especially as we were only there 2 nights. Lost most of a days holiday.
We haven't heard about the red doors for a few days now!

I don't know if they got the train up & running properly again as I wanted to book it for the usual Xmas polar express they have but there was nothing advertised this time. I don't know if it was still on. I will have a look for the lodges as my friend posted it and she normally goes but I suppose it depends on time of year.

Well we are home again. It took us over Four hours on the train from near Southampton home.

Alfie it was blowing a Holley yesterday and today. Yesterday we visited DD2 and family. GD is really walking now all over the place at nine month!

Today we went to visit friends near Southampton. Had a great time. Then trying to travel home big problems with trains due to flooding at Brockenhurst and New Forest. We eventually were directed to a slow train to Waterloo, another train and bus home.

They are refurbishing the Jurys Inn and the room we had was all new including bed. DH thought we would have a meal there with points he had but you can't just use them even though nowhere in their leaflet or website does it tell you how to redeem points. They had given us 10% off anyway and when he talked to reception they gave another 50 % off. They said it will be taken up with senior management. It's not as if it's new. We have been collecting points since 2014. I have to say the meal was very good. Thought of you Sheils.
