Just finished fixing the loo ..... gives myself big pat on my
back.:D :j:j
What started as 'seemed like a simple job' turned into a
mammoth nightmare.
The flush handle had been working its way loose for some
time and every now and again I just lifted the lid of the
cistern and tightened it up.
Well, could no longer do that (I found out this morning) so
I thought easy enough job: unhook Syphon Link, pull away
thing with holes (technical term) from long spindly bit
of handle. Replace iffy parts. Easy peasy!
Unfortunately - it was long thing with holes that was really stuck
fast from years and years of limescale (like cement yuk) -
had to get that off before I could remove handle ...... took
hours. It was the bit from the handle that fitted through
the hole - screw was stuck rigid, needed to pull it out but no go.
Once I had removed screw I had to tackle the problem
of sliding off the long thing from the spindly end of the handle.
Unfortunately it refused to budge. Are you all keeping
up.:rotfl::rotfl:
Attacked it from all sides, had screwdriver, pliers,
wrench, decorating knife (to hack limescale off), stuff
to dissolve the limescale, etc etc. Took me flipping hours
but managed it in the end.
:j:j:j:j
Ended up going down the road to the village hardware store
and as luck would have it, they had a new handle plus all
the bits needed (handy shop) - so have just finished
fitting it now and it works perfectly. :T:T:T
Handle and bits only cost me £5.99 - plus complete
satisfaction that I had done the job myself - even if it
took me longer than anticipated!:p
I'm like you rose - will try to fix anything here first before
calling in someone to do it. That would have cost me the
earth to get a plumber out.
Guaranteed it wouldn't errrrm have taken a qualified
plumber so long to do the job but that's not the point -
I will always have a go first!!! :T:T
:T:T Well done replacing brushes on your previous washing
machine. :T:T
Us girlies rule OK!!!
A very happy Alfie xxxMILITARY WIVES CHOIRSHELP for HEROES0 -

Well done on fxing the loo Alfie LOL.
Went to vet in Vets4Pets in Halifax where they were able to bring up details from Durham. Lovely lady vet. They have took bloods £163 and ringing with results tomorrow. If her liver and kidneys are OK they will give her an added tablet for her fits and some for her heart. If there are any problems with the blook tests we will have to let her go to doggie heaven as it will be too much for her to cope wth.
Hope you have all had a good day.BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POST THE COMPETITIONS0 -
