Free spirit - thank-you for asking, DD1 is doing really well at the moment. Not having to go to her hell hole (aka school) for 6 weeks is undoubtably helping!
We haven't had any further set backs, and we are noticing her confidence creeping back slowly, she even wore a short sleeved top & shorts yesterday!
XxIt's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

Ooh, lipgloss or makeup, what a great idea!0 -
Dipping in here for the first time this year.
Have to start looking through my cupboard soon, seeing what I've already got stacked away and have 'forgotten' about. This job will be starting sooner than anticipated as I had my hours severly reduced at work on Friday. Not best pleased as I've forked out for DD to go to dance camps whilst I worked and now don't need it and can't get the money back. Means I've had today off, though got little done as DD who has spent the past 3 weeks in dance and drama camps and has been complaining that 'her summer holidays hadn't yet started' has instead spent today complaining that she's bored!
Another reason why I need to see how prepp'd for Christmas I am. I probably also need to re-jig things about as DD has made a huge hint, which I think means she's spotted it for the pink Jack Wills bag that I had earmarked for Niece that I bought in the 70% Boots sale.
I got a Mr Angry stress toy from InsideOut movie from a newspaper offer the other week. Going to put it in DD's stocking. It's nice and bulky so should fill it well, though it's DS's stocking that is harder to fill. Copious amounts of toiletries will be finding their way in there though as teenage boys smell vile - with apologies to all the Mums on here with boys under 10 who probably weren't aware. of this.
Just gone back and re-read the last few posts. The one about Christmas Yankee candles made me smile as last year I took DD into a shop and invited her to smell them and guess their names. Clearly not keen on this idea she suggested that one was named 'Rusty Sleigh'.0 -

We should have been moving tomorrow, but last Monday (the day before contracts were due to be exchanged) our vendors decided to pull out, having simply "changed their minds".
Annoyed & gutted are understatements!
Anyway, onwards & upwards! Not wanting to risk loosing our buyers, we spent last week cramming in viewings. We have found another house we like, but it is slightly further out, and only a semi ,(had our heart set on detached), but our offer has been accepted & we are going back tomorrow for another look around before committing.
Good news is that this one is vacant/no chain, and considerably less than our mortgage offer we had for other house, so it will hopefully be straight forward & fairly quick.
I apologise for having not read back & caught up yet, I promise I will find the time to do so in next few days, but just wanted to touch base! Hope everyone is well, healthy, and enjoying the summer xx
Oh pink I am so sorryYour upbeat attitude is inspiring though

SUSIERICHARDS hi come and join us
FEISTY oh yuck! my first house was like that omg the grease on the kitchen cupboards luckily it was a tiny one bedroom place so it took no time to thoroughly clean top to bottom, im afraid some people have no respect whatsoever of other peoples property even if they do live there, cant the housing association you rent half off sort it out? What lovely people your inlaws are and very generous, you will be in before you know it my lovely and it will be all clean and newly decorated
PINKNFLUFFY oh no you must have been heartbroken, what is wrong with people??? hope the move into the other house goes as smoothly as possible for you. I hope DD1 is doing well, have been thinking of you all
Yay for the garden progressSadly housing association will do nothing as we've purchased the house and it's the whole buyer beware scenario.

PINKNFLUFFY ah bless her, i hope it is a case of onwards and upwards and not downwards when she goes back, i hope going to see her lady is still working for her
SPENDLESS hello, welcome back, i am so sorry about your hours being cut, no wonder you are angry, especially when you cant get the money back for the dancecamps  and these things arent cheap either, i bought the Jack Wills gym set for my DD2 in the sale too, she was so pleased with it, the fragrances are gorgeous.
FEISTY oh my mistake, sorry, i thought it was a half rent half buy scheme and thought they would be half liable

Oh Pink, that's awful, some people just have no sense of how to behave. Hope they decide to move again and get let down! (Not overly forgiving by nature lol). Glad DD is doing well, I really feel for her.
Feisty, sorry to hear the house was in such mess but yay for having the keys now. Glad your inlaws are great and once you've got it how you want it you'll soon forget the horror that it was and it'll just be your own lovely home. Does make you wonder how people can live like that - bet the house is glad to see the back of them!
Rotten news about your hours being cut Spendless. Had to laugh at your DD though - sometimes you can't win with children can you. Welcome back by the way.
Welcome Desperate2save and SusieRichards - you just got here in time, Christmas is only just around the corner!
Linz, well done on your win. Still amazed at how you've managed to do so many comps 3forholidays - a big win must be due soon.
Nothing much happening here today - DH is doing well and I've been at work (usually work from home). I'm getting some very disjointed bits in my pressie stash though, I really must get a wriggle on and package up the bits that go together. I got some lovely fruity shower gels a couple of weeks ago, on offer for £1 each instead of £2 so I bought five in different flavours (you know what I mean) - they're sherbetty colours - so I need to get a brightly coloured shower puff thing and something to stand them on and then they can be cellophane and that'll be a Christmas pressie for one of the adults and will fit in with the £10 limit. Normally I'd work the value out based on the 'real' price not the bargain one but to be honest I wouldn't have paid £2 each for them so decided to use the cheaper price this time. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Hi all, I really don't like going AWOL on here as I miss you guys and then I just don't always have the time to catch up. I know it's going to get some much worse from September onwards with all the Christmas chatter! We've had a hectic week as little Wiggle turned one (cannot believe it!) so we had a birthday day out and a party for him. All went well and I think he enjoyed himself even though he didn't have a clue what was going on!
I was very pleased with the cake I made for him, I was worried it was going to be rubbish!
Despite all those goings on I've managed to pick up a few Christmas pressies; sudoko book for mum, mint shower gel for DH's stocking, nail files for MiL, some play mice for my auntie's cat (!) and some popcorn for a little present i'm making for my friends two boys so pleased with my progress. I saw some candy canes in the 95p shop I went into the other day, I wished i'd got them now but I expect there's plenty of time for that. I also saw these in Home Bargains the other day:
I thought they might be good or anyone buying for a girl, they could be filled with little toiletries/make up or sweets?
I bit the bullet last night and bought Marie Kondo's book in the hope it will inspire me to clear up for good as i'm naturally a bit messy and Wiggle's toy stash is spreading - i'm only a few pages in but already raring to go! Are you still following it freespirit?
Anyway I hope everyone is ok, sending lots of hugs to those who need them. I'm ging to mke a real effort to keep up with everyone on here, as I said I don't like to get bhind as I don't always have time to catch up. xx0 -
Sorry for all the pictures but just wanted to share with you a Pinterest inspired thing I did; I went to my cousin's wedding evening do and wanted to give them some money but felt a bit boring putting it in the card, then I came across this idea:
I think it's a fab way of giving some money and hopefully they liked it too! x0 -
I love that idea kitty, I always feel it's a bit boring just putting money in a card too & that way they get a bonus present with the photo frame :j
I wondered where those bottles were from. My stepmum bought some for my daughters and I was thinking they'd make a nice little Christmas gift with some sweets in, but my youngest decided they were perfect for her morning drink of milk so I'll have to see if I can get to Home Bargains and buy a few to stash away for Christmas.
I've done a little bit more Christmas shopping. I got some nail varnishes for my eldest daughter from Boots the other day & as they were No7 I also got a free gift, so I will put that away for her too. I also ordered 2 photo frames from Boots as they were BOGOF so I'm going to get some nice photos printed & give them as gifts, either one each to my sisters or get single photos of both daughters and give to my mum.
Then last night I placed an order with Thorntons. I have bought a few of the bags of sweets as I thought they are the perfect size to go in the Christmas hampers I am thinking of doing for my sisters. But I will be removing the chocolates from the bags because I've bought lovely little jars that I want to put the chocolates in. Oh and of course I treated myself to some chocolate too. I did have a 20% off voucher though so technically they didn't cost anything :rotfl:
I want to try & find a warm snuggly throw for both my sisters, but at a reasonable price. I'm going to keep looking but if anybody knows of anywhere then please let me know.
Feisty - yay to the keys, boo to the mess! That's lovely of your in laws to be so helpful though, I bet you are so grateful and it will be lovely when you finally get to move in.
Peppa - I always say flavours too when I am referring to fragrance. Your gift idea sounds lovely. I also need to start getting my gifts together as at the moment everything has been put away as I've received it, but all in different places, so I need to put together the things that will be long together as a gift so that I can decide if anything else is needed.
Freespirit - sounds like your family have done a great job of your garden. I hope you get to enjoy it for a bit before the weather turns (although yesterday was atrocious where I am). We've recently had some work done on our garden & it was finished last Friday before we got home from work, so we had a BBQ on Friday night. We try & eat outdoors as much as we can, which usually in this country isn't very often unfortunately.
Well I must get on now, lots to do! I hope everybody has a great day & manages to do something a little bit Christmassy
