With respect, I've never seen sfc /scannow fix anything.
OP, are you sure you did the reset? That solves most IE issues:

Are you using any ad blockers, or antivirus that checks for bad links?0 -
Yes defo did the reset. Unchecked the "delete personal settings" box, but the rest were ticked OK when I did the reset.
No ad blockers or AV. As I said before, it was fine until a couple of weeks ago, and Chrome is fine as well.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Maybe run HijackThis? The log can be pasted into http://www.hijackthis.de/en for analysis.0

Try using IE via the 'in private' mode. If it works well then the problem is in the settings somewhere or an addon/BHO.0
