Car dumped on private parking space

Hi,
The problem that I have is that a car has broken down on a public road just over a week ago. The owner pushed in down to my cul-de-sac that I live at and has parked it over 2 privately owned residential parking spaces meaning we can no longer park outside our house. The owner lives approximately 5 miles away. My wife has spoken to the owner who has left her address details details on the car seat. It would appear that this person is in no hurry to remove the car due to the financial cost of it being moved (I also dont think the car is worth more than a few hundred pounds also). I beleive the car will be left outside my house long term. I have contacted the police for advice but they will not assist as it is on private land. Is there anything that can be done to remove this car as it is a real nuisance.

Sue the car owner for trespass. Even the threat (done formally) may make him take action.
Don't know if the council would do anything, but likely to get the same answer as the police, especially as you know whose car it is.0 -
Push the car back onto the Public Highway if possible?0

Yes I was tempted to move the car onto the road but I would probably feel guilty (especially if caught).0

If person is going to abandon it and inconvenience you and police won't do anything .............................0 -
I believe that you can have the car removed and stored at you cost. It would be up to you to reclaim the costs from the owner.
You could sue for trespass but damages would be limited and it could take months. Personally, I favour arson. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I think a clandestine towing is in order.0

Arson would be illegal and I am sure you wouldn't want to suggest something illegal
It might be worthwhile calliing the owner and pointing out a sudden increase in vandalism in your area.0 -
If this is in England the police have fobbed you off. Under POFA 2012 police have the power to remove any vehicle causing an obstruction, wherever it is parked.
Go back to them and speak to Inspector who may have access to an up to date set of statutes. If they need help its s55 of POFA.0 -

There is no current obstruction at this time. The OP is able to move the vehicles, just not park in the 'private parking spaces'
The Police have no powers here, it will be local authority.:j
Planning for my future early
:T Thank you to the members of the MSE Forum :T

It won't be local authority either, as it is on third party land, not adopted highway, nor council-owned land.0
