Can i sue Barclays for messing up my credit rating

    if its fraud its a bit more complex, and the lender isn't at fault and does have a right to investigate after all whats to say the ops relation hasn't taken the card out?
    Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    The point is that Barclays are refusing to provide a letter confirming what has happened. To that extent they are at fault.....

    Barclays are not "refusing to provide a letter". They simply haven't produced one as quickly as the OP wants.

    If you mean the case of Richard Durkin and his laptop. I would point out that;

    1. It was not a "similar case"; the circumstances were very different
    2. Whilst the complainant did win, he was left "a quarter of a million pounds down" due to legal fees.

  • Surely your complaint is against Halifax. You have informed them that the credit card information was incorrect and yet they are still using it as part of their decision making.

    Inform them that under the data protection act they (well their fraud prevention team) are able to contact barclays by phone (via Barclays fraud prevention team) and confirm the situation. They may be willing to do this.
