  • 2 orders placed online and 4 bags of stuff from in store. Providing online orders are ok, I'm sorted for this year.
Was busy at my local but very civilised.
    Hope other people do well
  • Just returned from my local (Sheffield city centre store) and there's still a fair amount of stuff there - the staff were restocking when I left. Plenty of S&G and a few Jack Wills bags too. Got some of the things I wanted :) It was very busy but I only came across one rude lady and everyone else was being reasonably polite :)

  • Woke up this morning with a plan to drop little'un off at nursery bang on 8am when it opened and then shoot over to Boots for opening at 8:30.

After jumping in the shower I thought that I couldn't really be bothered.... at the end of the day a shower gel and deodorant for £2.40 is about what I would pay in Tesco / Asda when they are on offer so not really a great price, plus I can buy as I go from Tesco / Asda not stock up massively then have to store it. Oh and I can wait for offers on exactly what I want (e.g. antiperspirant) rather than have to buy naff deodorant, or pay extra for a set with a bar of soap in (?!?!) or naff "free socks" that are "one size fits no-one"....

So I kept my money in my pocket and saved myself the hassle. I think too many people get caught up in the 70% off without realising that £8 for a deodorant and shower gel set in the first price is CRAZY and no-one with any sense would ever pay it.
A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.

Glasgow fort is chaos , for here about 8:50
shelves emptying in seconds , loads of staff about trying to fill shelves an shouting at people from taking the stock from cages

People with shoping trolleys full, and clearing shelves. I did my order online at 4 this morning but a lot of things were going OOS as I was going through checkout.
Just came out to see if I could get a few things.
  • Small queue of about 12 at Boots, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow... but a disappointingly poor selection of gift sets compared to last year, mostly fragrance sets. Not much left on the ONE sale aisle when we left.

Got 3 x Jack Wills big sets, but only because the staff hadn't realised they were on sale and hadn't marked them down so most people walked by them... but I had checked the website before I left. S&G small gift sets were on a different shelf and as most people went straight to the sale aisle, they missed them too, so I got 2 and a Joules Hand Care, Small Jack Wills gift set and the Royal Jelly hand duo.

£79 saving £184 from the highest on sale price.

Ours didn't open until 9. Staff said some were queuing at 6.30! Plenty left, but women working in teams to clear shelves.

Oh that reminds me, there was a section of electricals in the Sheffield city centre store which were in the sale but not marked down, so people weren't noticing them either. I got some of the Mark Hill hot rods for £6 as I'd spotted them on the website and knew they were reduced. If there's something you're after, it's well worth wandering over to the section it would usually live in to see if it's there and not marked down, you might strike lucky!

Also, don't forget to try queuing at the pharmacy counter till if there is one instead of the main tills, it could save you ages!

  • Does anyone know if the store at Deepdale, Preston is worth a visit today?

I usually go to this one but it's always full of rude people and when I checked the other day there wasn't much stock left. So this year I went to the Fishergate one, got a few bits but still full of rude people! Lots of beer/cider sets, some Sanctuary sets, lots of Champneys body butters, some toys and lots of Jack Wills stuff left this morning. People were stood guarding 7 or 8 huge bags of stuff in the aisles. Crazy!
