ll I'm sure it will all work out in the end for you.

Things are ticking along in the chanie household, so I don't have much to report. I had my hair cut last week, but the hairdresser cut it too short. I said I wanted it to be long enough to tie it back and it isn't. She cut it too short the last time and I thought I was clear with my requirements.

On the beauty front, october is all about experimenting. I've bought an eyebrow pencil for some light filling in. I don't like the thick lashes that all the young girls have, but I think they can look nice when they are filled in. I'm still working on it. I'm also planning on buying some henna to colour my hair, so I'll report back on that.

What a good idea to set aside time for experimenting. Let us know how it goes.

I have just been googling faux fur collars, shawls, scarves etc. I think I will have a little splurge. I fancy a fur Wrap to wear with evenjng dresses/party frocks.

    Good morning everyone

Well that's it the weather has broken here - no more lazy afternoons in the deckchair. Good job we did the autumn clean up yesterday.

Time to concentrate on indoor stuff. I now have a to,do list as long as my arm, first to get ready for the holiday and also make a start on the christmas prep. Ive started some shopping already because I don't get back until 10th December and dont want to be in a mad panic when I get back.

And we also need to finish some indoor bits and bobs, final decorating etc but that can wait until the new year.

I have loved doing this house but we have made a couple of mistakes which we can learn from. And of course it has dragged on for far too long because of losing my husband and my mum and then having to look after dad etc.

Still practice makes perfect. I'm sure we will do better next time.

I seem to have plateaued again with my weight. Maybe I became a bit complacent, a couple of treats too many, a bit of portion size creep maybe, I dont know.

    Must try harder.......:rotfl:

Well seeing as it's so grim here and I gave to wait in for the dishwasher engineer I may as well get stuck into some paperwork. Ive let it pile up again.

    Have a good day.

    Morning All,

LL Ive done loads of my Xmas shopping already as I have loads of people to buy for. You may find some nice gifts on your holiday.

I don't normally wear nail varnish on my finger nails, as I chip them really easily, but this morning, a colleague gave me a bottle of polish, so I gave them a quick coat. A fab start to Monday!!!

    Afternoon All

I am most definitely not Fab today as I have been vomiting since 6am and am currently in bed feeling horrible. I don't know whether it is a bug or something I've eaten. The weather is awful too, such a change after last week.

I had a lovely week looking after my DGD and didn't want to give her back!! I had a lot to fit in with usual activities, plus school runs, feeding DS's cats and looking after DDiL's shop a couple of days. I didn't manage any runs but still did my exercise classes and tennis.

Yesterday I went down to London for the day to see my daughter. We stayed in Central London and went out for lunch and then to the South Bank. We walked and talked for 6 hours in total and covered over 10 miles. I wore Per Una jeans with a navy and white striped long sleeved top- also Per Una - and my trainers . I would have preferred my boots but knew we would be doing a lot of walking. I took a jacket but the weather was so nice I didn't wear it. The train was absolutely packed both ways. I managed to get a seat on the way home but ended up sitting in (!) the luggage rack on the way down. There are some advantages to being small.

Hope everyone is having a better day than me. Hopefully, its a one day thing and a nice long bath this evening will have me feeling half human again.

Rose Wood so sorry you have been feeling unwell, I hope that you are on the mend.

  • A lot has happened this past week, I started a new job, my 2nd year with OU, and my mum fell and broke her leg in 2 places, necessitating surgery and a hospital stay. Through this it was discovered she has become alcohol dependent (something my brother and I already suspected). Watching her suffer alcohol withdrawals has been exhausting, though she is in the best possible place and has signed up for counseling. She has had a horrible few years with several deaths in her family, and some toxic abuse from her step family - all having taken their toll. My brother and I were always deeply troubled by the situation with her step family but never felt we could interfere. Now we will be if necessary for my mum's health sake. I have either been at work, at the hospital, or trying mostly in vain to study and fabbing has taken a hit. My 5:2 went out the window as I ate all the wrong things whenever I could grab them. Determined to jump back on the wagon and look after myself, one reason my mum ended up in such a situation is she always put someone else before her own needs in this case bowing to her step family's every whim, and it seems eventually it does catch up with you - sometimes in a most extreme way.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Couldn't read and run shandyclover. Your post is heartfelt but at the same time I think there's a big element of reasoned thinking aloud.

So sorry to hear about your mum's accident but it does sound as if it's turned out for the best. I'm sure there's a long road ahead but it's a start and she has professional help promised as well as you and your brother.

On the fabbing front, I think it's a disgrace that so little really healthy food is available in hospitals. The entrance to our local hospital feels like a shopping mall. There's plenty to eat but the options are sandwiches/crisps/chocolate bars or caff style food or burgers or coffee and muffins/cookies:mad:.

You've a lot on your plate at the moment. Do try and take some me time even if it's just for a soak in the bath or a walk in the fresh air or even some sleep!!:A

shandyclover - so sorry about your mother's accident, hopefully a lot of good will come out of it now that you and your brother are totally aware of the situation, virtual hugs and positive thoughts to you all.

Hospital food can be so hit and miss, but I am sure that you will bounce back now you have chance to draw breath.:)

Hospital food is not only hit & miss, its also expensive. Our local hospital has a Costa and a small M& S Simply Food - neither the cheapest place.
