Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015

Ooh I am going the week after next :j
Hey, Maman - don't diss the 'Batch
You lucky lot - saw the 'Batch interview the other night. I thought then he'll either be tremendous or It will be a disaster - he's definitely one of those actors who is out there "on the edge". Ooh get me.....with the street speak.:rotfl:
He does make a great baddy though.....
Another Shakespeare lover here.
I have a collection of DVDs called Shakespeare Retold - the comedies which I used to introduce the boys to Shakespeare - they love them.
And as teenagers they just loved the Baz Lurman version of Romeo and Juliet. One of their pals, a strapping 6 ft 18 year old rugby player at the time, sobbed his way through it.......bless him.
Had a nice lunch but it was a bit heavy on the carbs, but at least i didn't Indulge in a pudding. Currently I don't eat out very often so I'm not going to get into a tiz about menu choices. The odd meal "off piste" won't kill me. I think it's all about balance. If I was eating out 3 or 4 times a week that would be another matter.
I noticed both my sister and my niece are looking particularly trim and very athletic these days. They are very into horses and ride most days, my sister looks great and my niece is just so lean and strong. She will be 16 in a couple of weeks and she is gorgeous, but she has no confidence in her looks. Some of her classmates have been undermining her a bit.
I kid you not, she is beautiful, she has a look of Nicole Kidman about her, and she is very smart, a real flier. I think that There's more than touch of jealousy at work here. Can't people be cruel at times.....0 -
They can indeed be cruel, LL and sadly at 16 you don't have the life experience to brush it off and realise it's their insecurity that's the problem, rather than anything being "wrong" with you; hope your niece grows in confidence - she sounds lovely:)
Really enjoyed the play last night; in fairness to him, "the Batch" was excellent ( maman, you really made me laugh with the gormless comment), it was a very absorbing production and the set was absolutely gorgeous - hope you enjoy it VJs mum
I've been up since 5 - I got up and had a cuppa and a catch up with the news and on here as I'd been lying awake for a while. I'm tired again now though so as there are no pressing plans for the day I think I'll go back to bed for an hour - feels really decadent
If the weather is decent today I think I'll take a drive out and have nice long walk somewhere later - I feel like getting some fresh air today
Have a good day everyone0 -
The MM household slept late this morning, need to get to the market asap so will be more frump than fab, out with the dry shampoo:eek:
More weight lost this week through being ill:eek:, so healthy breakfast of scramblers on GF toast. I don't have an eating disorder (thank goodness), but my body doesn't seem to know that it needs food, possibly adrenal stress as well as a flare of IBS, so lots of reading and planning to be done.
Lovely and sunny, tho' chilly, happy Friday everyone. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hi everyone..Fab Friday today or although like you Maddy Im not feeling remotely fab this morning.
A combination of "painters colic" - paint always upsets my tum - and too many carbs yesterday. Not much choice but to soldier on with the oainting today. Ive got all,the doors and windows open despite the chill wind and a bowl of cut up lemons to try and soak up the paint fumes but still feel quite grim.
Oh well we will just press on. At the moment DS2 is ok but he gets tummy upsets with paint too.
Well we will just have to make our fortune and get to the stage we can employ a team of decorators - assuming they show up of course. Have you finished yet Maman.
I must admit I'm looking forward to a shopping trip, ive decided I will definitely buy some new sofas and some new accessories. I worked out how long we have had our current ones, they don't owe us anything, and I'm fed up with the,, plus they are not as comfortable as they used to be, plus they are too big for this house really and they overwhelm the room.
Hope you feel better soon Maddie.....
Have a great day everyone. I'm gojng to try and get out in the garden a bit today, it's starting to look a bit straggly and ive definitely lost the battle with the slugs.
I planted five chrysanthemum plants for some autum/winter colour. The little blighters have eaten the lot.......0 -
De Lurking to say anyone interested in seeing Hamlet should check out their Live Broadcast to local cinema - I think it's on 15th October? Our local is Cineworld
It's like having the best seats in the house for a fraction of the price on your doorstep!
I took my son and some friends to see the NT production of Frankenstein a few years ago. That was Cumberbatch too and Johnny Lee Miller. The night we saw, Benedict was the "monster" and Miller was Frankenstein. It was A-Maz-ing!0 -

What a shame - you didn't see his donger :rotfl:
Felt as though I looked like a sack yesterday :0 had 3/4 trousers, long tunic and short cardi with shoes that kept slipping and flip flopping as I walked.
Got home and shoes have gone straight in the bin (they were quite worn and let water so couldn't be donated); and changed into jeans. Even with the same tops felt soo much better.
Today I am in jeans, shirt, boots - starting to be autumn dressing now. Feel much better.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thanks for the heads up on the live broadcasts sezza. I've been to a few mainly opera but also Monty Python! I'll take a look at what's planned for the autumn as they often get booked up quickly.
The painting in the sitting room is finished now but room still a bit of a mess. Yesterday we put back what we could but still no sofas. Ikea locally only had one available for immediate delivery so we've ordered them from central warehouse for delivery next week. I'm reluctant to buy curtains and lampshades until the sofas are here and I want to re-cover the footstool from old suite. It's brilliantly comfortable and an alternative to the chaise longue type sofa I would have liked if I'd have had room. The footstool they sell with the sofas is enormous and has no casters so won't have that. When all that's done I'll decide on the accent colours.
Not a great deal planned for the weekend but I will probably go to M&S as I think they have home reductions on and maybe Dunelm too. If I can see what's around it'll start to give me ideas and if I can return things if unsuitable I might bring them home to try.
I did Fab Friday to go to hairdresser's and food shop. Black skinny jeans, pink Jigsaw top and ballet flats and a black cardi but it's been warm here today so didn't really need that. He's done a great job of my hair including some highlights in a darker blonde to tone down the sun bleaching.
Glad you had a good lunch LL. I agree that having an off plan meal won't kill you but it will hurt as carbs definitely don't agree with you. I have things like swede and carrot mash on a low carb day or carrots cut into big chunks then it feels as if I'm having potatoes IYSWIM.0 -
A lot of off-plan eating for me this weekend, I'm afraid, due to lunches out over the holiday weekend and probably a dinner out on Monday as it is mine and OH's Wedding Anniversary. I'm not unduly worried though - I'll get back on track on Tuesday
Not very MSE of me, but I bought two new pairs of shoes and a handbag today! I didn't have a decent black bag, so I've bought a nice black leather one. I got some lovely black shoes - slightly pointed with biggish bows on the front, and a pair of tan brogues that I've been after for a while that I'll wear with jeans or trousers in the Autumn.
I've got some ideas for some looks I want to put together as the clothes sizes go down, so it's keeping me motivated (this weekend aside)
Hope you're all having a fab weekend x0 -
Good make ing everyone
Thanks for the cine world tip, Sezza. Ive popped into my dairy and will try and make sure I book tickets I. Time. I bet they will sell out quite quickly. There is no way I can get to London just now so a live broadcast is a great second best.
Ellsbel - im with you on the little blip with the healthy eating - ive struggled the last couple of days - partly the painters colic but also just the house being in a state of upheaval whilst the decorating is ongoing.
Everywhere is a bit of a tip and food has been a bit hit and miss. Resorted to fish and chips one night.
Hopefully I will get back on track today. Going over to DS1s later to help with the clean up. but will prep the veg before I go and will put a slow roast on in the slow cooker. Tummy feels a Bit better but still struggling a bit with the headaches from the paint. Nearly there.
It's much easier when there's no fish tank to think about.....
I'm feeling very tired at the moment. Ive got a to do list as long as my arm and cant face it......
Mañana - better make that Tuesday. It is the bank holiday after all.
Have fun......0 -
I managed to eat well during the week however friday and saturday led to wobbles so now I am back focussed again. The exercise is also going well and I am starting to look for an exercise bike so I can keep cycling through the winter
After the shellac failed after 5 days I am reluctant to try it again even though I really liked the look. I am just going to keep them short, shaped and buffed.
Today I am going to write out a weekly meal plan with a view of keeping my calories to 1500 a day for a while which combined with exercise will hopefully help me slim down. This is the approach that my friend followed and she has had fantastic results.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
