Service on a very old car
Comments
-
If its burning oil it would affect it, but we don't know if that's the case.
Still no point servicing until it's been MOTd on an old car - if it fails only on emissions then this can be sorted and retested0 -
You don't actually believe that do you?
It's all about crankcase emissions..ie crankcase pressure. Modern cars are required to consume their crankcase emissions....by feeding them back into the induction system.[positive crankcase ventilation]
Whilst there will be filters of some description to prevent oil droplets entering the inlet system....sometimes if oil is particularly dirty, these can fail...
One bodge on older cars would be to disconnect [and seal off at the inlet end] the positive crankcase ventilation system..ie vent to the atmosphere...and hope the tester doesn't spot the dodge? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
