Internet forums tend to attract more problems than not. When things go smoothly people are less likely to be as vocal as when things go wrong.0 -
If paying in is such a problem why not open more than one account?
I have current accounts with 3 different banks.
One my wages goes into and my direct debit goes out of
one my spending money is in
another is a joint account for the mortgage and household bills
If I need to pay in something I just got to the bank with the smallest queue and transfer it over online within seconds
oh also I Pay nationwide £10pm to have their flex plus account which has given me a 4 year mortgage deal instead of 3 year (same interest) , phone insurance for us both, break down cover for us both and travel insurance
We both have halifax accounts where our wages go into and they pay us £5pm to bank with them. so between us our halifax pay for our nationwide fee0 -

I feel very strongly that First Direct are a fantastic bank. I have been with them for 10+ years and have recommended them to numerous friends and family, all of whom have commented on how pleased they are with the services and products on offer.
I rarely call them on the phone, but did so twice last week, and both times the phone literally rang once before someone answered, no automated system. All queries dealt with within a few minutes and exactly as I wanted.
I would recommend First Direct to anyone. I have many of their products and I am happy with all of them. Their online banking suits me and I use their app daily to keep track of my money and move it to where I need it.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

FWIW, I have- their current account because I have to have it if I want their Regular savings account
- their Regular Savings account as it offers the joint best AER % in the industry (along with the HSBC Regular Savings account)
- their everyday saver account (with £1 in it) as it saves me the £10 monthly charge for their current account
Basically, I have to have 3 accounts because I want to have 1 account.0
