I don't know where Jakg got that I was belittling and berating the staff, because I didn't do such a thing. I got upset because I was shouted at by a so-called manager and also that I'll be staring at a wall during the "festive" season and not a single person working for the company seemed to give a flying monkey as to help.
If the tv doesn't get repaired and they only offer me a voucher I'll be extremely upset, as I don't want ever buy anything from them ever again. Also, they sold me a faulty tv and as it broke within a year I should get a refund IMO.
Anyways, we'll see how it goes. Here's to potentially 6 weeks of no tv.
You did the one thing that's guaranteed to P off any customer service employee at Christmas (or any other time of the year) - you demeaned our ability by requesting a manager. Fair chance you annoyed him/her so they, on transfering the call, filled in their superior to what you'd said to them & how you said it, which if your post is anything to go by wouldn't be pleasant.
Sorry to say it, but if your post is indicative of how you dealt with them (and ultimately it's your word it wasn't) then it's little surprise you're meeting with resistence. I get it that it's a nuisance, but ultimately they can't just pull a repaired unit out of thin air & there's a better than fair chance their repair agents are closed for Christmas & New Year.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

Are you just sure they weren't being assertive? When people won't take no for an answer and the other party is only just doing their job they have no option but to be assertive. I recon this was actually the case not what you've written above.0 -

Things break, it's a pain but it happens. I don't understand why you took a broken TV home again, but that's done now.
Book it in for repair and get it sorted.
Meanwhile as others have said get a cheap CRT tv either free off freecycle or cheap (practically free) on eBay. Job done, drama over.DFW Nerd 0350 -
Let me re-iterate that I was not rude to any of their staff at any point. I can tell the difference in assertiveness and rudeness. I burst into tears because I was being shouted at. This time of year is tricky enough for someone like me without being shouted at.
I still think they should've lent me a tv until mine is fixed. The manufacturer has confirmed that the tv wouldn't have been fixed faster if I'd left it in the shop. It would've just sat in the store or on a lorry until the end of the month.
Some of you assume that my rant on here is how I talked to the staff. I did say in the beginning of the post that it was a rant. I don't rant in real life. I state my case calmly and politely. I took the tv home with me because the retail manager wouldn't give me an indication as to how long it would take to be repaired.
When buying a product such as a tv, or a washing machine or other appliance, one would assume that it would last for more than 9 months. I can't afford to buy a new tv, but will look into freecycle - thank you to those who suggested it.
McKneff, you're very kind, but I'm nowhere near N Yorkshire.0 -
Assuming you've got a laptop, get a free month's subscription to Netflix and settle in with a few boxsets for the break. I can thoroughly recommend Lilyhammer and House of Cards ... and chocolate

I'm not sure anywhere do loan TV's!
Although I would keep checking up to see if any earlier collection dates are available. That may have been the earliest at the time, but people cancel so if it has been booked in give customer services a call to see if anything comes up.Slimming WorldWeek 1 B]-7[/B Week 2 B]+1[/B Week 3 B]STS[/B Week 4 COLOR=DarkOrange]STS-3-2[/B Week 7 COLOR=Red]-1+2[/B Week 9 COLOR=Red]-2[/COLOR

Update:
After much kerfuffle and lots of phone calls and broken promises, I now have a full refund. Finally! I'm looking to buy a new tv elsewhere once the money is in my account.0
