'Modesty panels' for clothes - any that actually work?

  • How about cutting a piece of fabric to size, hemming it, and safety pinning it in place? If you place the pins right, they'll be almost invisible. Or tack it on and clip them out afterwards?

I got so sick of one of my dresses slipping down I sewed one in permanently >.<

    HBS x

I've tried this too and had good results. Normally I go down the vest/cami route, but fabric/sewing/haberdasher's shops usually have a "remnants box" - even Liberty's in London - where you can buy leftovers from fabric rolls for a reasonable price. There are often some lovely lacy pieces of expensive fabric which you can get cheaply - perfect for a panel.

Good luck - Merry Christmas! x

After years of the same problem I gave up and bought these a few months back - they were crazy expensive with shipping and tax but they have been invaluable and mean I can wear all my dresses without unsightly camisole bunching at the waist.

Quite a good review here which shows them on a real chest.

Wow! Just Wow! I love the look of these, fantastic range and choice of styles, I will be ordering one as a test one soon - I may take a while choosing which one though!

I will update with how I get on, in case anyone else is interested.

Thanks so much for these links, I am very impressed with this range of products.

If you have any questions the lady who makes them is pretty good and will advise on measurements etc.

I just bought a black plain one, cream plain one and a black lacy one.
The all came in cute little organza bags

Hope this work for you too.
