'Modesty panels' for clothes - any that actually work?

I have several items of clothing that have quite deep V necklines, and don't get as much use out of them as I would like because they are not really suitable for wearing at work while showing a lot of cleavage!
I've bought a couple of types of those 'modesty panel' thingies that are supposed to fill in the gap (ahem), but so far not been impressed with them. One type creased up all the time and slid down, and the other showed through the top at the sides and looked a bit daft.
So.... has anyone found any of these that actually work well?
I don't want lace ones by the way, but plain black or single-coloured ones - a lot of them are lacy or have lace at the top which I don't like.
I'd be very grateful for any help, as so far it has cost me several quid to buy panels that didn't work! Not at all MSE...
Thanks for any help.

What about just a simple vest or camisole underneath. There are many plain ones that suit your desire for something utterly simple? They might also prove more useful and flexible items of clothing, though admittedly might cost more.0

Sorry can't help as I've had exactly the same problem. I gave up and wear camisole tops underneath.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Asda have a wide range of camis/strappy vests at £2.50 in sizes 8 to 24 in a variety of colours0

I would probably just buy a selection of cotton camis. M&S usually have lots of different colours and style.
Do you have any Muslim clothing shops near you? I have one near me that has lots of ingenious things that can be worn under normal clothes to make them modest.0 -

I have tried this idea, but I always end up too hot and/or with the camisole bunched up around my middle - the sort of clothes I wear a lot are stretchy jersey so don't sit well on a camisole underneath. Thanks for the suggestion though.0 -

I hadn't thought of this, I may check this out - we don't have any Muslim clothing shops nearby I don't think, but I may try a search online. Thank you for the suggestion.0 -
How deep is the V? The last time I had a top like this I found some extra wide ribbon and sewed it across the back. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I was rather hoping that someone had found some modesty panel things that actually work, as I don't find wearing camisoles works very well.
Has no-one had any success with the little inset panels at all?0 -

That's a possibility for a permanent solution, but I was hoping to be able to find something to make them better for day-time wear but that can be taken out again if I want to wear them for an evening.
I have several tops and dresses that have mock wrap-style tops or V necks which are not exactly plunge necklines, but I just don't like wearing them for work because they are a bit too 'booby' iykwim, and it makes me self-conscious. A bit of an insert would make me a lot more relaxed !
(My OH by the way thinks I'm daft to be self-conscious and should just wear them anyway - mind you, he is a man!)0 -
I've seen modesty panels advertised but I've never actually worn one. The thing is, with a clip-on panel, it's not going to be able to move with your body the way that an item of clothing that's been sewn will. Hence your problems with them riding up, or coming down/coming undone.
Another vote here for a cotton vest underneath. H&M do long ones, made of cotton. I've worn them under jersey tops and dresses and they look fine.0
