London Heathrow NATS Meltdown and Delays

I have insurance with Direct Travel recommended by MSE.
I was caught up with the recent LHR meltdown and got stuck in Frankfurt as all flights were cancelled - BA said it wasn't their responsibility due to the ATAC issue and Direct Travel say that they don't cover flight cancellations only a one time benefit of £20....

Any ideas MSE followers

what financial loss did you suffer?
BA are correct that the airlines do not pay delay compensation when the cause of the delay is outside of their control so it is down to what your travel insurance policy covers.

Hotel bill of 160 Euros from Hilton I am staggered that DirectTravel are saying they will not cover for the hotel
Anyone else have similar experience

BA were responsible for Duty of Care whilst you were delayed even though compensation does not apply. You should be able to reclaim the hotel direct from BA as reimbursement of expenses incurred during the delay
