Hi,
Can someone please recommend a cheap and reliable dongle for a laptop? We already have one isp but want a separate one for a laptop.
Thanks

You can buy dongles that are locked to a certain network like how some phones come with a contract.
Or the other option is you get a dongle thats unlocked and buy a pay as you go sim.
Has that helped ?0 -
Yes, thanks I appreciate you explaining the difference. I'm thinking perhaps pay as you go but I'd like to know the cheapest and most recommended.0

No one buys dongles anymore. Too limiting. A MiFi is the next step as it also creates a Wireless signal, in order to have the ability to spread Internet access to any component with WiFi capability. Usually up to five or ten units at the same time.
Currently, the best option is actually to get an Osprey 4G MiFi from Currys/PC World on a 1 month rolling contract and then give EE the thirty day notice soon after activation. That way the total cost for the unit, plus 1GB for the month will be £30. You can then revert to using the unit with EE PAYG data SIMs or you can unlock the unit for less than £1 and use it with any data SIM worldwide.0 -
If for some reason Currys/PC World decline a 1 month contract, the next best option is this Vodafone R 206/Huawei E5220 3G MiFi for £25. Supplied with 2GB of data over a month.
Once again, you can unlock it for under £1 and then use it with any data SIM worldwide..0 -
Before you consider any of the above, if you are wanting to use it mostly at home, you need to consider the network that provides you with the best signal in your area....... Otherwise whatever you save in cost will be swallowed up as you will end up buying another Network's productIf youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0

I'll be kind and suggest that you read the posts again, before making spurious comment.
I'll help you further by asking you where else do you think that you will be obtain a SIM Free 4G MiFi for £31 or a similar 3G modem for £26.
Did you understand SIM Free/Unlocked? It means that you are not tied to any network and can therefore utilise any data SIM. That is clearly stated at the end of both posts.0 -
So after the 30 days, how much would I be paying if I reverted to pay as you go? I'm unsure really about what a MiFi is because I'm only used to connecting to the internet with a pc.0

A "dongle" refers to a device (normally plugged into the serial port, but some are USB), which is used as a security activation key for installed software, a software protection device.
I'm pretty sure your not talking about one of these.......
The term was attached to basically anything USB by marketing departments, yep salesmen spewing out big words, totally out of context as usual.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
