Thanks for the suggestions.
Pete, that sounds like the best option. I can pick up a version of 2003 cheaply and give it a go.
My Mum is 82 and needs an icon on her screen to take her straight to Scrabble with no distractions like adverts which will just confuse her- but I will have a look at the ipad version and see how bad the ads. are
Our resurrect it.
I don't understand why I can't buy a DVD or simple download of Scrabble any more. Why is this?0 -

Hi,
It will work on Windows 7, just needs a bit of fiddling.
If you look at this post :
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_other-gaming/scrabble2003-will-not-load-on-windows-7/50964d57-7ca4-4eab-b45a-e8ce6498706f
at the bottom there are instructions on how it works.
"I had a similar problem with Windows 7. The way I made everything work was to open the CD rom root folder and right click on setup.exe to access compatibility mode. I selected Windows XP SP3 and Scrabble 2003 installed without a hitch. I am playing the game without problem."
Give it a go and let us know if it works.
Pete
Thanks. just spent an hour trying every setting and can't get it to work. It states fmod.dll is missing from your computer.0 -
Sorry you've not got it working.
Can you try putting the fmod.dll file into your c:\windows\system32 folder and see if that works.
The file is available here :

Sometimes you need to run the setup.exe file as Administrator as well as compatibility with Windows XP. (And sometimes XP SP2 works better than XP SP3 - I found that when installing Midtown Madness 2).0

I officially HATE Scrabble. What makes my computer think that it can use sox as a word?
This is just nonsense!

You need to blame the official Scrabble dictionary for that one.
It's just not right! Whom can I petition?!
Also fell foul to some rules that were long forgotten, such as not getting any points for a blank chip...after I used it in an optimal combination.
280 to 230.
I was robbed I tell ya! Not playing that stupid game again! It's Kirby2's fault!0 -
