    It wasn't the cheapest.

I could have bought another brand down the road at 98p and of course that wasn't Tesco!

    How so?
    Do elaborate.

No tricks. I just paid the pump price. It has been dropping constantly and daily - sometimes more than once a day - because of the *** oil price crash *** which also means half price flyaway holidays are now on sale. I'd give Tesco a miss if I were you.

Nope, of my 100p per litre, 60p was still tax.

The cost of the petrol is 40p, so why is Tesco charging 3x that?

Ah now I get it - if I spend £500 on shopping at Tesco, they will sell me their petrol at the proper price based on the oil price crash.

Unless I spend £500 on shopping at Tesco, then they won't let me have the petrol at the right price.

    That's pretty despicable isn't it?
  • What's the 'right price'?
But if you're unhappy with the price Tesco are charging, go somewhere else - no?

Ben, I think I have somehow missed out on some economics and cultural gems that you are obviously privy to - could you tell me where I can gain this fascinating new outlook on the world which you appear to recommend highly? It could save me hours of thinking ...
  • Tesco have become similar to the Tory Party. They are the 'nasty party' of the supermarket world.

Equally they could be said to be like Blairs labour party as they cooked the books.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Asda don't reduce the price of fuel at all sites at the same time. There is a 24-48 hour difference between some sites.
