Your friends are badly mistaken about BG being poor at RPU. Thats rubbish advice from your mate. BG are the only supplier to run a properly run multi million pound turnover business. They have a training centre where thousands of RPU officers learn the ropes. We ve seen them in action lately on the TV a couple of times They do concentrate on the gas side tho and pass the electric over to our lot at G4S..now we are rubbish as expected. You will be guaranteed not to see much of the abysmal efforts of the likes of Npower ( I was advised by a top BG RPU man that they are the worst ) EDF, EON and of course, useless Scot Power.
I found a good one today at a house which had just been burgled, I made his day by finding the electric bypassed as well. This was a Spark Energy supplied house.. Still trying to get in touch with their RPU., my head office are looking for their phone number as they ve never had it before.. I bet they dont even have one
The DNO people ,or their contractors change the meters not the suppliers. In my area its Northern Powergrid for electric and National Grid or their contractors for gas meters.
i only see the electric side,so can only comment on that.

Does it not frighten you a bit finding them? Like you notice the bypass and the occupant waiting behind you with a lead pipe to knock you out? :rotfl:
Its not considered a serious enough offence nowadays, certainly not enough to get violent over. If they get nabbed, its just a question of paying an estimated amount back, usually via a prepay meter. the debt is loaded onto that with a weekly repayment of £3 to £16 a week..They usually carry on fiddling tho because having a debt on the meter is making life even harder.
Whilst there is a zero deterrent energy theft will just sharpen the graph rise ever upward. If Marks and Sparks ran their shops like we do, that is if someones caught walking out with a bottle of whisky and the only risk is to hand it back if caught, then larceny would be endemic. Fortunately M and S prosecute... thats what we should do...A trip to the magistrates court and deportation for the immigrants who do it..like they re doing now in Germany

totally agree with this. We are now in an industry where apparently the end user is always right. They can sit and bluff or create complaints and without 100% proof they can walk away scot free and wise can get paid for their time.

Sorry I'm a bit late in responding to this.

We do have an RPU team and I'd be happy to put you in touch with them if you contact me using the email address on my profile.

    Kind regards
