  • In my experience the iPhone 5 has the best camera of any smartphone that I've used, and indeed it outperforms even many digital cameras (except it has no optical zoom of course). It takes extremely good quality images, compensates for things like backlighting and can shoot even in very low light conditions.

BUT...I'm actually not a fan of Apple or their rapidly deteriorating mobile OS, and therefore while I would recommend an iPhone 5 for its camera, I would not recommend it for its operating system and found it could be a little temperamental compared with others at connecting to the data network.

I now have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and find it to be an absolutely fantastic phone in all respects; really can't fault it. The camera is also superb, though there are times when it doesn't quite (and this is me being a pedant) match up to what the iPhone 5 was capable of. It does have a pretty neat slow-motion feature though, if you like gimmicks. I do.

    So...

Great phone, great camera - the S5.

Unbeatable camera, average phone - the iPhone 5.

That's strange. I found the Galaxy S5 camera blows the iPhone 5 camera out the water. Are you just using the auto settings, or have you tried tweaking them a little?

Lumia 930, esp. now the 'Denim' firmware update is rolling out and adding loads of new features to camera/video capability.

    Taken with my 930 -

  • I've a Nokia 920 which seems quite good and better than other phone cameras I've used.

You might think about the 920 or 930.

Although depending on why you want a phone with a great camera, buying a small good quality camera might be a better place to start !
