You could always get clearence from the underwriters of your mortgage before hand if you really were scared it would mess up your mortgage. I can't imagine many mortgages would be so tenous that a sky tv contract would change their decision, since you can cancel sky after all.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

what is so difficult about picking up the phone and:

    a) asking SKY about its phone service; and

    b) asking SKY about its broadband service

or do you think the internet can somehow miraculously speak on behalf of your intended service provider?
I'm sure much the same could be said of many of the queries on here. The thing is it's not just about what the supplier says, it's about people's actual experiences (which may differ) and any extra pointers/advice.

A good idea to arrange it if you have exchanged already. Book it for after completion though, your seller doesn't want extra tradesmen drilling holes when they're busy packing etc.

My anecdote is that my 'buyer' once cancelled my BT line for me, they cut me off completely, before he chucked a wobbly and pulled out. This left me with no phone line and it took a couple if weeks arguing with BT that I had not asked them to close the account and I needed it switching back on again! What a nuisance!

I did this to my seller... Totally innocently. I asked BT to transfers my line on here completion date 2 weeks away and after we had exchanged, they subsequently told Sky who my sellers were with who immediately cut the line and broadband! They weren't impressed as they wouldn't switch it back on!

They had a rant at me, but it's Sky they needed to take their frustration out on as it's them that !!!!!!ed up!
  • I've done this with sky before. I set the order up and put the latest installation date they had available and then put back the date a couple of times as it was 6 weeks until we moved in. They had no problem with the date being changed.

Just spoke to my solicitor, we complete Thursday. Funds were requested 19th December, the lender responded 22nd confirming funds will be delivered 7 Jan.

Is it likely there will be anymore credit checks etc?

No. And I highly doubt that getting broadband will affect a mortgage application anyway. What lender would think, "Ah, right, they want broadband. Maybe they'll choose to pay that instead of us"
